^ What happened to all of the 30"+ 4k Korean monitors you had? 2k better than 4k?

right now I've got:
2x 40" 4k
4x 34" 1440p
1x" 27" 1440p
just gonna put them back in boxes in my closet until I get more room for a 2nd computer setup or something
I really think triple monitors is the GOAT setup for both productivity and gaming.
4k is awesome, but only really useful on big monitors
downside of big monitors is you usually have to run less of them, which makes multi-tasking a bit more annoying
my ideal setup when I get a bigger apartment or something is 2x portrait 27"s and a 34" curved in the middle for gaming, then a 55"+ on the wall for netflix and yt
opposite here, I grew up using only Dell and HP monitors cus they were cheapest, and I HATED them.
the Samsung CF791 is the best monitor I've ever owned (minus the janky vesa mount situation, or lack thereof)
however, Korean brands are definitely the best price to performance of all brands
^this.
I've only used SLI once (dual 970s) but 85% of the games I played didn't work correctly, the system ran hotter, updates were annoying, etc.

Speaking of monitors, I have a predicament of my own. Based on the thread I made a while back about troubleshooting the green lines/artifacting, turns out it was my monitor that died. So I'm on the market for a new monitor. Currently I have it narrowed down to 3 options:
Dell AW3418DW vs LG 34GK950G vs 32in+4k
Dell: current best, UW4 panel, solid quality control, great warranty
LG: next best, UW5 panel, looks great, only 1 year warranty
What has me hesitant about the LG is it's going to be 300-400 more. The UW5 panel is native 144hz but due to the limiations of the g-sync module, the panel can only run 120hz (gsync module overclocked from 100hz to 120hz, but panel downclocked from 144hz to 120hz). The freesync version will come out shortly afterwards with native 144hz. I'm considering waiting for the 144hz panel and abandon g-sync all together.
The third option is any 32-40in (ideally no bigger than 38) quality 4k panel, 60hz+, great response rate, no ghosting, etc. I don't know of any great 4k 32-40in gaming monitors so if you guys have some suggestions to further my research, i'd appreciate it.
@Podunks: That 200hz ultrawide ended up being trash. It was demoed yesterday and the ghosting is abmyssal at anything >80hz due to using a VA panel instead of a IPS panel. Dead on Arrival

Do you value warranty? If so, take the Dell.
I can't imagine spending $1000 on a monitor when you could get the same specs without warranty for $400, but I've also never had to warranty anything in my life.
If you like big screens, you can get the Wasabi Mango 43" 4k for $500 @ 60hz and $950 @ 120hz or so.
If 43" is too big, I'd sell my 40" 4k Wasabi Mango for $300 + shipping+++ Positive Crew +++

Right i remember you replying previously. I don't mean to dismiss your advice
I shipped my acer x34 in for warranty so if they fix it, i'll value warranty. if they don't, i won't value warranty lol
I think 40in might be a little too big. does wasabi offer 32-38in 4ks?
1) how does the 120hz wasabi mango achieve this? heavy overclocking? how's the ghosting on it? is it ips?
2) what are the pros/cons of your wasabi mango that you're selling?
3) is there a newer wasabi model out using a more recent panel than the one you're selling?
edit: Any talks of a wasabi mango monitor coming out that uses the UW5 panel found in the LG I posted?
edit2: I also might be open to getting a 32in 1440p 144hz ips monitor if there's one that's decentLast edited by bartosh; 08-31-2018 at 01:08 PM.

haha no problem, buying secondhand definitely isn't for everyone, but I gotta do my best to chime in when I can
so many people just don't ever think or try it, and then once they make one purchase and see how much they save, they're hooked
1) All Korean monitors are just B-Stock panels (usually Samsung / LG) so they achieve 120hz the same way any other monitor does. No ghosting on that model, and I believe it's a VA panel (better than IPS imo)
2) Pros - TONS of monitor real estate, effectively acts as 4 22" 1080p monitors, 4k is BEAUTIFUL, VA panel, cons - takes up a ton of desk space, difficult/expensive to vesa mount (to find a rig that can support 30+ lbs), can be overwhelming if you sit too close
3) Yeah my model is like 5 years old, they don't even make it anymore. The two new models are the Zen U430 (60hz) and the UHD430 (120hz)
If it exists, I'm sure it'll come out, if it's not already out. (UW5 panel)
IMO, 32" is an awkward size for a monitor, it's like a badlands where 1440p isn't good enough but 4k doesn't grant a big enough benefit to justify the cost
if you like single monitors, I'd go with the biggest and highest resolution one you can afford
if you like productivity, multi-tasking, or just generally having a billion things to look at all times I'd go for a few smaller monitors (3 seems to be GOAT for me)+++ Positive Crew +++

they should, I know most of the Korean monitors do.
my older 40" doesn't though
debatable if that's a downside :P
haven't been a fan of either of them, and if the manufacturers don't think those modes add $500 in value, I don't see why consumers would XD+++ Positive Crew +++

So in need of a new comp and I am about clueless when it comes to this chit. Will rep for help on which to get. Willing to spend about $1500 on one and only play WoW and warcraft 3. I know I hear people say a toaster can run WoW but I would like to pay extra to have a good experience when Classic comes out and money isnt too big of an issue for me and want a good comp that would last me a while.
in4 help as like I said I'm stupid when it comes to computers so not doing a build or something since I have no clue how to.* Tennessee Titans* * St. Louis Cards*

building a PC is basically just adult legos.
pretty easy and really the only thing you can mess up is the CPU or MOBO, and even that's hard to do.
I'll let some other prebuilt guys chime in since I don't know what good value is after they rip you 30% for building it lol.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyways got my Pixio's in
was gonna try the GOAT out, but for some reason Fortnite kept BSOD'ing me in this configuration
after about 2 hours of trying to decide what to do, I ended up here:
still gotta color calibrate them and whatnot but it works
feels good to be able to easily watch YT/Netflix while gaming again. great for AFKing in OSRS.
feels weird not having 21:9 for shooters tho. ohwell+++ Positive Crew +++

so ****ing messed up. this monitor i had for 3 months gets what i think are burn outs, while my 20" tn panel i had for like 8 years or something never had problems

Impossible. No business could operate without profiting, unless they're getting parts for wholesale prices.
But yeah, in general I've seen around 30% on prebuilts.
Not sure on your monitor issue unfortunately ;/
I've been lucky and with 30+ monitors over 15 years I haven't had a single issue. *knock on wood*
They are Pixio 277s

$400 each retail, I also had a 10% eBay coupon at the time.
27", 1440p, IPS, 144hz, free-sync, yada yada yada
you can also get the same monitor but in a TN panel, for $100 cheaper
I'm super pleased with them.+++ Positive Crew +++

christ i ****ed my monitor hard lmao. accidently pushed my desk a bit forward and my monitor fell down.
straight to the trash lol. $300 gone like nothing. i'm back to my old trusty 20 inch TN LG monitor. idk why but my 20 inch monitor looks way better. and is easier on the eyes for me.Last edited by 2RDEYE; 09-09-2018 at 10:55 AM.
