1 Dead, 30 Injured after Boeing 777 from London suddenly falls 6000 ft

A Singapore Airlines flight hit severe turbulence over the Indian Ocean and descended 6,000 feet in a span of about three minutes, the carrier said Tuesday, leaving a British man dead and more than two dozen other passengers injured.

The flight was then diverted and landed in stormy weather in Bangkok.

Authorities said the 73-year-old British man may have suffered a heart attack, though that has not been confirmed. His name was not immediately released.

The Boeing 777 flight from London's Heathrow airport to Singapore, with 211 passengers and 18 crew members aboard, landed at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, the airline said in a ******** post.

I've flown in many 777s for long haul flights, and they're stable as hell. You don't even feel turbulence. So to have people hitting the ceiling is crazy rare.

Honestly, the fact that the plane actually landed with only one old person having a heart attack is reassuring for me as far as air travel goes lol. And I am someone who made sure none of his flights this year were on 737 MAX planes.

I think this one is kind of funny...I mean, it wasn't blunt force trauma, etc...the drop scared him to death. literally. I could see it going either way. He would have been fine if the plane didn't drop (maybe), but if he hadn't been at risk for heart attack he wouldn't have had one at all.

It didn't SUDDENLY fall 6,000 feet, it descended over 3 minutes to get out of the turbulence lol. 2,000 fpm is a perfectly ordinary descent rate for an airliner.

Dude died from a heart attack which means it’s more on him than the plane - normal operating procedure during severe turbulence is to immediately lower altitude to avoid the pressure waves so technically it was just bad weather

Yep. It happened over 3 minutes, which means they had to keep descending because the turbulence was so bad.
