People claim Usenet groups are the best. The downside is you must pay a small monthly fee, but apparently you get access to anything and everything, and it isn't tracked or shared p2p (I think it's a direct download).
I've always used bittorrent as the client, and download from either isohunt.com or thepiratebay.org

Yes.
I personally use utorrent for windows and transmission for linux.
Just be smart about it... use a proxy while you seed.أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله

Newsgroups are...
Just an example
Nzbmatrix
Number of x264(720p & 1080p) Videos indexed: 17341
Numbe of Blu Ray Dumps(full disk image): 4000
Number of DVD Images: 34000
Number of DIVX/Xvid: 35000
And thats just for movies...all 100% downloadable, no seeding, no rules, all leeching, cap your connection the instant you press connect.
Seems worth it for 8 dollars a month. Brb never renting a movie, or even having cable Television because its all so easily available.
if you have ****ty internet < 10mb Torrents are good, but if you have faster your really missing out.
Brb downloading some obscure TV show from 15 years ago, and not having to cry on the comments that nobodies seeding.
Go look at Nzbmatrix's index, its free to look at i think without an account.Join KIVA - Donate to those in need around the world! Free $25 for signing up!

I know theres Sickbeard for Torrents now i think too..you may want to look into it...i use it heavily for TV shows and im assuming you do as well if your using XBMC, if your not...look at it.
DVR basically, tell it what shows you want and it auto downloads them, extracts them where you want in your proper directory structure, and you can set it up to remotely message your XBMC box(assuming its a seperate PC) to update its library upon download completion.
Not only that but i end up getting shows usually 2 hours before air because most are ripped on East coast, and dont air for me until 3 hours later.Join KIVA - Donate to those in need around the world! Free $25 for signing up!

For movies/tv shows, I'm going to be downloading in my office at school because of speed/not eating up my own network when wanting to game/misc/etc. Is it better to download directly to an external HDD or to just copy over after they've downloaded? I think I've asked this before but forgot what people said - I think someone mentioned downloading to computer first is good because of temp files that need to be created but idunnolol. Also, I know it will likely depend on the computer/external HD, but what would normal time be to transfer say, 2 GB worth of movies (if I were to download to computer and then copy).
Thanks and will try to rep.*Workout Journal: We form like Voltron: BoB/Exane/NWSkier/Gin/Hamzzza/Applecat*

Thanks - also a little excited on another note. Bought a new tv when I moved last month and forgot that it has the LAN port on back. I was assuming there was a way to play my music/movies over the network. I just remembered tonight and am downloading some PC share manager (from samsung) that should allow me to do. Should be a nice little way to work (I can also plug in directly with USB too). idunnolol
edit: I think I could have already been doing this easily with my 360 (media center?) but don't like the idea of running it more than I need to (which is also the reason I stream netflix though my roku - though I think I would have been better off going the WD way)Last edited by AppleCat; 06-26-2011 at 10:12 PM.

My computer is running slow as **** lately (wrong AC adapter, it broke..)
I transfered about 25GB of files from one external to another today in like 10-15 min
I know that that isn't even that fast.. So you don't really need to worry about that.
I also agree with direct downloads for music (mediafire, etc)
I recently jumped on the newsgroup train. Absolutely loving it so far.
We'll see what school says in the fall about me downloading **** tons of files through an SSL connection.
