Student loan debt relief? Hate it tbh.
Medical loan debt relief? Love it tbh. Entire medical industry is way worse, overpriced, predatory. And it feels like the financial disasters it causes onto the patients are not self elected... unlike student loans which are self elected.i7-14700k

I hate to be pedantic but the US government runs a significant deficit and taxes have not entirely covered expenditure in quite some time. So really it is part paid for by your tax dollars and the other part through the erosion of spending power due to inflation, a good amount you are able to export to other countries.
Now if we want to look at this in terms of marginal expenditures then the tax dollars have already been assigned to something else and this new expense would all be paid for by inflation, again a good amount you are able to export to other countries. Seems like actually quite a good deal.

Nearly every hospital in the country would be forced to shut down
If Dems had their way you would be paying 90% tax just so lazy, jobless Libs would have everything in their lives provided to them for free
Edit: I don't think you all understand how expensive it is to operate a hospital in the US where 70% of people are stage 1 obese; more than half of hospitalizations are related to disease that stems from obesity
Your average hospital is bleeding money & relies on donations/government fundingLast edited by blissful88; 05-10-2024 at 10:04 AM.

Yeah that's fair. I have no dog in this hunt and no real opinion on the matter but as an outsider looking in I see all the things your government already spends on and get confused why helping sick people get better is so controversial in comparison. Especially for a Christian country.
Hey Jesus mate, what do you reckon is more important; enough bombs to split the earth in half or helping the sick? Asking for a friend.

In 2016 I'd be like "f/ck that"
In 2024, I'm like "Why not? We keep giving Ukraine and Israel money, we keep printing money, why not eliminate medical debt and student loan debt?"
There is no such thing as fiscal reponsibility anymore, and attempting to be a voice of reason in 2024 is a fool's errand.
Let's go ahead and print more money, give away more money, keep the borders open and let the chips fall however they may.Everything I post is satire.

Your point of view is valid, more valid than mine because I assume you actually get a vote. That's just how I see it.
As an outsider I am all for you guys reducing your spending as I pay for some of it through inflation exported to my country. But honestly as another human, I am a bit disturbed by the idea of another human suffering or even dying when it could have been relatively easily prevented if not for lack of money. Money is a concept, humans are real and call me a sucker but I love my neighbor.
I would be all about some kind of fat/degen camp system though because no chit some people take the absolute piss

Thanks for going out of your way to tell us how much you care about people in all of your posts. I now value your opinion more and will reconsider mine. Clearly someone who cares this much (and certainly isn’t pretending) wasn’t being an apologist for a vote buying scheme.
That whole money thing? We can figure that out later. In the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter.
