^^In my gym there's a lot of ppl who do deadlifts looking to the mirror side to see proper form i think, im not an expert of body anatomy or kinesiology but i kinda feel they will screw up traps or back or even the neck by doing a deadlift this way; But u have to think of the average joe who dont get that much weight; in my gym some ppl (girls) do squats with 40lbs wearing belt..why? Dont have any idea, but anyway i mind my own body and try to focus the most but sometimes is hard to not see such things and dont comment about it!

If you don't squat, deadlift, dead hang pull up, and dip on a regular basis, you are a gym idiot.

Need some anti-idiot advice here. I go to the gym early in the morning, along with a few select others. Generally these people are the dedicated folks who are serious about whatever they're doing, so I will see them every day. There's an older guy (re: senior citizen) who comes in and abuses the hell out of one of the leg press machines in a very bizarre manner. It's one of those weighted seats on a sled, where the platform for your feet is fixed and you are essentially pushing your seat and the weight backwards.
Every day, this guy loads up the wait and gets on the machine, wedging himself between the platform and the seat so that he is actually elevated 6+ inches above the seat. He then proceeds to push off explosively, and lets himself drop back into a starting position with little to no control over the "descent" portion. On top of it all, calling his ROM a quarter squat would be generous. He's essentially bending slightly at the knees, launching himself back, and catching himself with knees slightly bent. By the time he's done, his joints always look very red and inflamed, and I worry that he's going to seriously hurt himself.
Normally I'd shut my mouth and mind my own business, but I always feel like I should speak up when someone (especially an older individual) looks like he or she is doing something dangerous. Should I say something to this guy or keep it to myself?"Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly recognizes genius."
"The training is nothing. The will is everything."

Haha, I love this thread.. There's always this girl and her very, very overweight friend (5 foot tall..maybe... about 350 lbs... srs) and they both pick up 2 lb dumbbells and walk around the gym for 5 minutes, and then stretch with them, and walk around for another 5 minutes, then they stop, usually the thin one puts on perfume out of her huge purse she brings into the gym -.-... and then they continue their 2lb dumbbell in each hand walk.
Then there is the guy who is known by all of my campus as Rager. He's about 5 foot 5, maybe 110 lbs soaking wet. He usually sits down on the edge of the bench, spends 5 minutes cracking every bone in his body he can do, then does about 42305894230589324890 dumbbell curls with (what i think are) 10 pounders.. haven't looked closely enough to see for sure... and then he grunts extremely loudly, hyperventilates for a moment, and yells at the top of his lungs and does it all over again..
AND NO ONE WIPES THEIR DISGUSTING SWEAT OFF OF ANYTHING.. EVERRR

I used to go to this gym, and this c'nt asked for a spot on the pec dec. I happily said eff off..
He also asked me if he could go in between sets with my inclines, but I've seen him stretch on the incline for 5 min, so I said Eff oFf again.
Hate those idiots...focus!

Had a ****gytime come into my gym yesterday...neckbeard, huge beer-belly, UFC shirt, rolling one of these around with him on the gym floor while talking on the phone:
He started on the elliptical while talking on the phone, only stayed on for about 2 minutes, then went around and started tapping guys on the shoulder asking them questions while they were in the middle of exercises.
Then he heads over to the power rack, loads up 315 and attempts to do some kind of "power-shrugs", realizes they are too heavy, and goes to the smith machine and improvises...banging, clanging, grunting.
Some people should just NOT be allowed in gyms...Ohio State Crew
