I agree. To ignore all of the posers. When I work out with my buddy though, I don't have the ipod playing. It gets pretty intense when working out with a buddy just because we're yelling at each other to push beyond our limits. But, when I'm working out solo, I need to have the music playin. Mainly metal just to keep up the motivation.
BTW: Thats an awesome list you have there ctgblue !!

I would rather have music...
I can workout without it but I would rather have my headphones on so I don't have to listen to the crap my gym plays... They play a lot of Ashley Simpson type garbage.
I also like to go to the gym sometimes when a game is on and do my cardio.
I was at the gym the night Barry Bonds broke the record. The game was on mute but if you have your headphones you can dial it in. I didn't have them but I watched it none the less. On the eliptical next to me was some teenage chick that was on her phone talking about he said she said **** and totally ruined the moment for me. She gave me a dirty look when I pumped my fist and said yeah in my guy sports voice.
I'll never forget that night.

Music is a must and I agree, lots of Zombie, Pantera, Rammstein and the like.

I made my mind up 15 years ago, that I was going to burn-out, instead of rust-out. I expect my last day on earth will probably be either leg or back day, in the gym, and that's okay with me. - Ironwill2008

It depends on how my workout is going. I listen to a lot of Heavy Metal when I work out. If I lose focus as far as concentration on my muscles I like to turn the music off and refocus. One of the benefits of working out at home.
