Yah, I hate when people buzz me. I've turned into a monster riding when I commute. I'll yell and scream at a hole drivers. Most people get scared because of my size and try to avoid eye contact with me.
I hate how people get mad when I'm riding on the shoulder. It's illegal to ride on the sidewalk and also my right to be on the shoulder. I take up less then two feet. It's not hard to go around me.
The absolute worst though is when I'm riding at a high speed on the shoulder and someone making a left doesn't see you or care and pulls out way to close causing me to have to lock my wheels to have enough time to stop and not t bone them. I think some of them do it intentionally.
Any of you brahs own a spin bike? I was looking at getting one I move for some indoor cardio when I don't have time to ride or get home late from work. I eventually want to have a full home gym setup and a spin cycle to get my workout on without having to drive somewhere.

I have rollers and use to have a trainer. I eventually realized that I could ride outside just about everyday of the year here and just gave away my trainer, outside is so much better and I would guess a spin bike would be the same. Rollers are a great way to develop a smooth strokeWhen you're down by the sea and an eel bites your knee, thats a moray.

I bought a handpump and completely forgot that it doesn't have a PSI gauge on it, so I kinda just pumped my tires to the point that they felt thick.solid.tight. Can someone link me a cheap guage? I'd rather not have to buy a floor pump. Thanks!

I've eliminated lower back pain so far by moving my seat forward just a bit. I'll prob move my seat up a little bit to help me get rid of the quad pain.

you really should adjust for your leg stroke first, then adjust for your upper body. Common is knee over pedal, essentially your knee at 90 degrees should line up over your pedal and 9 o'clock position and you should have about 25% flexion. These are just general guidelines..

hmm interesting, when I first got my road bike, my seat was too low causing my knee pain. My lower back also started hurting a bit. My last 45 miler I switched to a slightly higher seat and moved my seat forward and no knee or lower back pain even the next day.
I actually need to buy some cycling shoes to see where my pedal stroke is before I even do any more adjustments. My Workout Journal:

In my multiple experiences with this type person it was just redneck a-holes. Years ago I was riding a 2 lane highway which has lane width shoulders, so safer than most roads around. This redneck in a small size pickup speeds up behind me on the shoulder then swerves and honks about 15 feet away. Oh how I wish we had concealed carry back then. Another time on the same road I got flashed by a buxom young ho.

My lower back is shot and it actually feels better after a ride. This week I've done 2 hrs a day (just over 40mi each day) and I feel amazing. I have no pain at all right now. It wasn't that fun though...it's been around 90 for the past 3 days. The ride itself was brutal. I could have gone farther but I average 1 water bottle an hour and didn't want to run out in the middle of nowhere.
What would you guys recommend for recovery? I've been just taking some whey. Anything else I'm missing? It doesn't help I'm staying below 1500 cals a day.
I'm also down over 50lbs since last year. Down below 185 now. I can really tell on the hills. Last year I was dropping to the second ring, this year I'm standing on the pedals. And faurk the way fat comes off. BRB arms and legs of Arnold, torso of Danny DeVito.
And for you guys complaining about drivers, get a Go Pro. I was involved in a road rage hit/run about a month ago and luckily I was in a car. The cop who's doing the investigation is a complete retard....going on 7 weeks and not even an accident report. If I had video, it's open and shut. You should always carry a knife with you for last resort, if not for rednecks, dogs and any other animals. There's been quite a few bear sighting where I live. When seconds matter, police are only minutes away. I went ahead and ordered a camera to film not only my bike rides, but also general driving. I've been hit 3 times in the past couple years and went through hell getting the other driver found at fault because people will flat out lie to get out of anything.Last edited by Bababooey100; 07-06-2012 at 05:03 PM.

yea, consider shoring up the hamstring chain. The better rider on our team swear by pilates, but simple stretching would probably help. I tend to get numbness and tingling type pain, not sharp pain.
you can use a plumb-bob, which is weighted tool that simply hangs straight down, drop that off your knee with your foot at the 9 o'clock position and it should be over the center of the pedal, adjust slight from there for personal taste. An easy to make a plum-bob is simply using a washer with a string tied to it. For cleat position I would pedal with regular shoes and see where your feet naturally line up to determine cleat position which should emulate that.
riding stretches me out as well and feels good, but I always make sure to reverse the riding position via stretching and I do other things for core, mostly weighted hiking..
whey is fine but 1500 is way too low at 185 unless your counting the actual calories your burning riding and subtracting them. You want to maintain lean muscle while losing fat, nice job though on the weight loss. You could be sore simply from not providing ample recovery and calories for rebuilding your muscles after breakdown. Do you have a goal weight?

Not sure on a goal weight. No abs yet but I've got a "V" line on each side, arms/legs have definition and veins. I'm assuming about 10lbs more to go so 175 would be a number if I had to pick. (5ft10 FWIW) I've always been built, just never cut. During the week when I ride I've probably got a 0 or negative total calories. Today I've ate a good bit and feel much better. I'm taking 2 days off for rest and I don't ride on weekends due to drunk rednecks. Maybe kick it up to 2500 cals on bike ride days? It sucks that the first 25lbs was cake and I have to work my ass off for the last few.

I can actually do the calculations if you can guess your bodyfat %.. Id try to have around 1800-2000 calories everyday after your riding just for maintenance, 175 actually requires more calories than that and eventually you will have to work towards some reasonable level.. you can use this if you like, its easy..

going to be ordering ODI flight control bars
stock bars on my bike are 660mm and the ODI comes in either 700 or 750. what do you guys think would be best for moderately technical downhill with a little bit of air time?

http://fairwheelbikes.com/kcnc-ti-pr...st-p-1228.html $130 These are titanium, so expensive.
You could get a plain silver alu one and have a local anodizing shop color it for you. I did this with an old Cannondale mtb frame. I stripped the paint and polished first. This was back in the late 90s. It cost less than $40 for a three color (whole frame clear, then front third red, back third blue).

Anyone who was in the midwest this Sunday proabably loved riding. 84 degrees and much cooler than before, my MPH went way up with the break in heat.
