I didn't have the heart to watch the video....
Liberal talk show host Tawfiq Okasha recently appeared on "Egypt Today," airing a video of Muslims slicing off a young man's head off for the crime of apostasy -- in this instance, the crime of converting to Christianity and refusing to renounce it. The video—be warned, it is immensely graphic—can be seen here (the actual execution appears from minute 1:13-4:00). For those who prefer not to view it, a summary follows:
A young man appears held down by masked men. His head is pulled back, with a knife to his throat. He does not struggle and appears resigned to his fate. Speaking in Arabic, the background speaker, or "narrator," chants a number of Muslim prayers and supplications, mostly condemning Christianity, which, because of the Trinity, is referred to as a polytheistic faith: "Let Allah be avenged on the polytheist apostate"; "Allah empower your religion, make it victorious against the polytheists"; "Allah, defeat the infidels at the hands of the Muslims," and "There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger."
Then, to cries of "Allahu Akbar!"— Allah is greater!"—the masked man holding the knife to the apostate's throat begins to slice away, severing the head completely after approximately one minute of graphic knife-carving, as the victim drowns in blood. Finally, the severed head is held aloft to more Islamic slogans of victory.
Visibly distraught, Tawfiq Okasha, the host, asks: "Is this Islam? Does Islam call for this? How is Islam related to this matter?...These are the images that are disseminated throughout the electronic media in Europe and America…. Can you imagine?" Then, in reference to Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood and Salafis, whose political influence has grown tremendously, he asks, "How are such people supposed to govern?"
Only the other day, a prominent Egyptian Salafi leader -- referring to the canonical hadiths, including Muhammad's command, "Whoever leaves his religion, kill him" -- openly stated that no Muslim has the right to apostatize, or leave Islam.

That's terrible. If religion is leading to killing, then irreligion is much more preferable than religion in those instances. The true purpose of religion is to create unity. "The religion of God is for love and unity; make it not the cause of enmity or dissension." Also if something is good and true and is the Truth for Today, then you won't need to force people to believe it; they can eventually figure it out for themselves peacefully.
"O MAN OF TWO VISIONS! Close one eye and open the other. Close one to the world and all that is therein, and open the other to the hallowed beauty of the Beloved."

I have family that were killed/persecuted for "apostasy" (after becoming Bahá'ís) as well, it's actually pretty common (especially for Bahá'ís after the Islamic Revolution, and before). Bahá'ís don't recant under any condition which lead to a large portion of Iran's population being wiped out (back in the 1800s the population was only a few million). All Bahá'ís in Iran have to do usually is sign a paper saying they are Muslim, or something as simple as that; but Bahá'ís stay true to their beliefs and their love of God is stronger. But not even one Bahá'í would try to get revenge or put a bomb on himself, in fact the Bahá'í Faith strongly emphasizes how you should be a well-wisher of all, even your worst enemies. So even the "worst" Bahá'í would never put a bomb on himself; this truly is a unique religion.
I really believe what the holy books say, you will know if something is good or true by its fruits. The fruits of the Bahá'í Faith are out there, and even governments (including the U.S.) have commented on its peaceful nature—it's hard to not notice, especially after all the severe trials the Bahá'ís have faced.
The Qur'án's own instructions in dealing with others is: "Say not to every one who meeteth you with a greeting, 'Thou art not a believer'" (4:94). Humanity has really strayed far from the Word of God...God willing it will be guided to a path which will be beneficial and constructive.
God willing we will at least individually try to play our part in being a cause of unity and understanding in this temporary life."O MAN OF TWO VISIONS! Close one eye and open the other. Close one to the world and all that is therein, and open the other to the hallowed beauty of the Beloved."

A false religion meant to conquer. Muhammad did what Hitler wanted to do. Usurp Christianity with a religion that can be used for war and conquest. In Hitler's case his people were already familiar with it, in Muhammads case his people were not and he could use previous revelation to his advantage. It's a shame it has grown this great but its fruits are just the same as its roots . Murder.
Is there no limit to what people will believe if it is prefaced by the phrase,
"Scientists say" ?

Have given this example before—but milk is only good before its expiration date, right? After the expiration date it goes bad and will be bad for your health. The milk now has expired; but before it expired, it contributed to health and wellness. But when it expires, it may have the opposite effect.
Religion is like that—when it expires, it's time to let go and get new milk. Why cling to the old milk, when the new milk is beneficial?
I believe that religion has a tendency if we look at history to rise to a golden age, then a decline to its dark ages. The dark ages won't happen if followers turn to the newer Religion God sends; but, history shows us humans usually reject the newer Religion initially, wanting badly to cling to the expired milk. The golden age provides many fruits; the dark ages do not. If a medicine is not doing you good anymore and is actually harming you, then won't you want to discontinue its use instead of continuing to use it?
So if you see evil and misfortune, priests molesting, terrorists killing, clergymen having guns and sex and drugs in their places of worship; then maybe it's time for us to start searching, because surely God has sent a newer religion! A Just God doesn't leave us without proper guidance.
The Bahá'í Scriptures say:
"And now concerning thy question regarding the nature of religion. Know thou that they who are truly wise have likened the world unto the human temple. As the body of man needeth a garment to clothe it, so the body of mankind must needs be adorned with the mantle of justice and wisdom. Its robe is the Revelation vouchsafed unto it by God. Whenever this robe hath fulfilled its purpose, the Almighty will assuredly renew it. For every age requireth a fresh measure of the light of God. Every Divine Revelation hath been sent down in a manner that befitted the circumstances of the age in which it hath appeared."

BTW the Qur'án itself says that the Dispensation of Islam will last for only 1,000 years. The "Prophetic Cycle" ended in 1844. I made a thread about this:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...5264001&page=1
So what you see happening right now like in the example of the O.P. isn't really coming from Islam in reality—at least the Islam as originally revealed by Muhammad. Hopefully people can make that distinction. Because in its Golden Age (while still current), no intelligent person can deny the fruits that came from the influence of Islam, e.g., in science, art, math, philosophy, architecture, and so on."O MAN OF TWO VISIONS! Close one eye and open the other. Close one to the world and all that is therein, and open the other to the hallowed beauty of the Beloved."

I don't? She is a gun though. In regards to the OP. I have seen 5hit like this before. When I was young I was a fan of faces of death. I even watched a 12 year old cut off a head in Afghanistan about a year ago. Extremely graphic. However I agree with others in this thread, it's best not to watch such things.Still Cuckin On Four Fours, Wrapped In Four Voes
