Crunches (Tripleset) 3x15 - 15

Holy crap, that was a rough workout. Pushed chest the hardest, wanted to make sure I felt it. Definitely did. Pump was 100% there on everything. Those lat raise/db rows made my shoulders buuuuuuuuurn (in a good way). Great workout. Definitely feeling it today though. More DOMs than I've had in a long time, sign of a good workout. My shoulders are getting stronger, which is great! So far this week has been rockin for workouts.

Great workout. Was fun doing another double workout. The gym was pretty empty for a Fri, which is always nice. Got a really nice burn in my back and arms. Had plenty of energy throughout everything and wasn't super exhausted til about an hour or so later. Not a crash, just exhausted (long day/week). All the progress is keeping me going!Current Log:

Seriously I should have gained weight. Thanks to TOM! But somehow I managed to lose weight! WTF? Hey I'll take it. I have noticed that my clothes are fitting much baggier so for ****s n giggles I decided to try on a pair of jeans I had before. And they almost fit. Still too snug for my liking, but closer and closer. Guess I must be doing something right.
Benches I'm most proud of. I remember just recently barely being able to get 8x65lbs. I pushed through those 15, the last 2-3 weren't easy, but I was solid for at least 11-12. I'm noticing some more definition coming in my arms. I managed to do dips for the first time (using bench) and not just one of 2 but a few. My arms/shoulders/chest were all burning pretty good when I left the gym. Felt great! All NSV's/PRs are always worth smiling about. I tried to do a regular push-up and I got ready, went down and never came back up. My body was like, haha, yeah no! So I used the bench for everything, but it still felt a lot better. I can feel myself getting stronger, it's awesome!Current Log:

You want me to pre-plan ... pfft! Haha, no I haven't. It was hard enough for me to find this. I'm thinking about doing NROLFW, I've heard some good stuff about that program. Now that I'm more comfortable around the gym.
I loved the program. Don't know if it's because it's helped me a lot, I've made progress or it was the first program that introduced me to weight lifting. But the structure worked really well for me.Last edited by lexagon; 12-19-2011 at 12:05 PM.

Thank you, thank you and thank you! I'll admit I walked out of the gym grinning, it's the little things that make me happy!
You don't have to bench -H-. I used to be afraid of it, thinking I would be the moron that let the bar fall on myself. If it's not comfortable try different hand placement or just stick w/ the DB's. I actually prefer DB's for a lot of things.Current Log:

Yeah I will stick with the DB's, but I WANT to get comfortable with it....for some reason it is the most intimidating lift for me. I don't like squats but I do them because I want the results. I totally believe in focusing on compound lifts, and really want to incorporate true benching. I don't really want to have to do the 'roll of shame' (haha) but i have practiced failing and really it wouldn't be a huge deal. Just gotta keep doing it! That is the only way to get better at something, I know!

Day 64 - Mon 12/19 - Quads/Calves
Leg Press (superset) 3x15 - 70 (warmup), 130(2), 135
Speed Squat (superset) 3x15 - 12x40, 15x40
Single Leg Lunge (10 per side) - 40lbs
Leg Extensions (superset) 3x20 - 75lbs
Lateral Bound (superset) 3x20 - 20 (1 set only, stupid ankle)
Squat 3x30 - 20lbs
Standing Calf Raise (superset) 3x20 - 180lbs
Seated Calf Raise 3x20 - 50lbs
Great leg workout. Replaced the exercise(s) that were giving me trouble and took a couple things out and no leg/ankle pain this time. Except during the lateral bounds, but I had to try. My quads were feeling it hard last night! Wow! Rocked the calves too! Glad I finally found something that works. Great stuff! Although I have a feeling that I'm going to really FEEL it tomorrow. And I was right, didn't have much resistance on the leg workout, everyone was there doing upper of some sort LOL!
Tonight is Back/Arms - which means PUSHUPS! Maybe I can get one good one. I might have to try to do them closer to the beginning of my workout though. When I wait til the end my arms are already exhausted. Either way they will get done Hoping for some more PR's or at least progress tonight! Dropped a little more weight yesterday - apparently kicking myself really hard is working?!? Who knows!Current Log:

2 Randomish pics that I meant to post earlier.
3 stages of pants. Khaki's I wore in Sept (3 sizes larger than the lighter jeans), Lighter Jeans - current pants, Dark Jeans - almost wearable (still a tad tight for me). That was a big yay for me
New shirt I got yesterday (and have on today). Don't know why but it cracked me up! So I had to get it. Sometimes the strangest things make me laugh.
On a side note: I forgot I'm not going to gym tonight. Kids Xmas Advent program, timing just won't work out right. Little bummed, but I'll make up for it. It's bearable, but I get restless when I have to sit anywhere for too long. Thankfully the school is pretty smallLast edited by lexagon; 12-20-2011 at 03:06 PM. Reason: Forgot something :)

Gonna start Monday. Choosing that as one of my exercises for WS. LOL I hear ya. Practice does seem to be the only way to go, doesn't it? I do squats but I think it my least favorite exercise. Maybe cause I am tall. Or at least that is what I blame it on, lol.

Another great workout, pumps were amazing as usual. Was a little blah, but that didn't stop me from upping weights and pushing it. Think I'm just finally drained, or I'm getting the cold that has been flying around the house. Boss says I look run down .. meh! I'm feeling good, gym is getting better and weight is starting to melt off Can't complain about any of that. Looking forward to chest/shoulders tonight.

*subbed to Lex's Badass Journal of Badassity*
It was a few posts back, but you mentioned being happy with your progress, but still wishing it was going faster. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND I seriously don't think you could possibly realize how much I understand that sentiment!
In the end, you really will be happier with a slow/steady approach. Sure, I still have some excess bodyfat, but I was able to build some muscle that might not have been possible if I tried to drop fat at a faster rate. And the same will be true for you.
I feel that some cardio is definitely important for thick, curvy, delicious girls like us, but its not an end-all, be-all. If I was running short on time with my workouts, cardio was usually what I opted to skip. And after my APFT in August, I practically stopped doing all cardio. (Oops! LoLz) Although, recently, if time is short and I have to decide between abs/core and cardio - I've been doing the cardio and skipping abs. Compound lifts still work my core, and I can always do an ab DVD at home.
I am, of course, going to sing the praises of NROLFW. 3x a week in the gym has been great. some of the workouts are longer (over an hour), so you can still get that "feel" of doing alot of work.I'm gonna be one to watch in 2012. Just wait and see.

Best line EVER! I think Badassity is what got me, very nice Cynthia!
I've dropped weight at an alarmingly fast rate and yes I looked great and was happy, but the second I stopped boom all the weight was right back. It's not healthy, I did it twice same result both times. Now my slow and steady way is actually showing more progress and I'm 100x's happier. I actually enjoy the gym, I don't need 90000 hrs of cardio. LOL
Hammy just reminded me of story from last night I meant to post. She was talking about standing in line at the grocery store.
So I ran to the store last night hoping to find some good fish/beef for dinner, since I only had to cook for myself. Nothing was appealing so I just picked up a couple other things and was heading down the spice isle and got distracted. I <3 Mrs Dash. As I turn to leave this old man says "trying to spice up your life eh?", I chuckled and said yup. Him: They sure do make choices tough these days don't they. Me: Yes sir they do. Him: What are you going to cook? Me: No clue, just sounded good, haha! So we get in line @ self checkout. Him: I think you need to be smarter than the machine sometimes. I just chuckled. Then he goes into detail about all the things he got his wife for Xmas (new TV, washer/dryer, new flooring) and remarks how she likes to spend his money. I just smiled and said that was very nice and sounds like she got some great xmas gifts. Blah blah blah. He's at the register in front of me and I have everything in my bags ready to go and I realize I left my wallet in the car. So I tell the girl and turn to run out and he says no wait, I don't mind, after all it's just money and hands me a $20. I tried to refuse because I'm a nice person and I can pay for my groceries. Anyway I had to go out and get the wallet anyway, was a little more. And when I got back in I tried again to give him the money back and he said no. I make plenty of money and it's my pleasure, Merry Christmas. SO I finally check out and our store has these little thing you can collect (I don't collect them). And there was a guy waiting to get his, so I said just give them to him. She said she couldn't, so I reached in my bag grabbed the 2 and gave them to the guy and said Merry Christmas, hope it helps. He said thanks and had a huge grin on his face. I was almost to my car and the same old man turned to me and said Merry Christmas I hope you have a great holiday. I returned the gesture. And I decided on the way home that I'm going to go out and buy a bunch of cat food/liter for the local shelter. Since that's where one of my fuzzy brats came from. I can't spend the money on myself. Just made me realize that there are some great people out there.
Phew that was long. But it made me smile for the rest of the night. It's kinda like that cheesy commercial where everyone does osmething good for a stranger. I hope the guy I helped turns around and does something in return.Current Log:

Lexagon, YO! I finally made it over here! I keep forgetting about the sup log since I have to go into user cp to see my subbed threads, and I never go into user cp. Strong logic on my part I know.
Yes and no, where in your chest? Are you talking about where your pecs meet your shoulders? If you're flairing out your elbows it beats up on the rotator cuffs so maybe that's what you're feeling. For most it's incredibly hard to feel even bench press in their chest until they tire out their triceps and shoulders first. Try to tuck your arms in and tighten your core when you do them (if you aren't already), it'll be easier and protect you from injury.
Holy crap, that banana shirt! Bananas doing situps, hams flexing biceps, what the hell is going on these days?!
EDIT: Oh the story about you and the guy being so nice, lulz, I was kinda hoping that story would end in a brawl, did not turn out as expected. But much respect for donating to the animal shelter.Current PRs:
Bench Press: 200x1
Deads: 315x1

Doesn't happen very often so yes. I mean I do nice things for people, but its rare that I get it in return.
It's not in the rotator cuff, I did a few of those accidently .. ouch! I did the pushups at the very end of my workout so I guess it's possible the rest of my body was just tired. They didn't hurt in a bad way, it was actually a good burn. When I do them next I'll try your suggestions and see if I still feel it. Tonight is Chest/SHoulders (lol).
Foodz workin out, see you really do put your food to work. I couldn't resist the shirt.
Lolz agreed, a brawl would have been hilarious and made the story a lot more fun. It was more shocking because I live on the uppity side of town. I usually expect to get run over by an SUV or luxury car, not have my groceries paid for.Current Log:

"You pass on more to your children and your grandchildren than your eye color, your hair color, your crooked smile. You also pass on your enthusiasm, your spirit, your desire to compete. You provide the living example that they can become more than they ever thought they could. Because you did.”

Got up and went to the gym in the morning (which I never get to do) it was pretty cool. Had plenty of energy to get through both workouts, pushed as hard as I could. Tried to burn some extra calories in prep for the holidays lol Felt great to get moving again and still the entire day free!
* = PR on SLDL's - I really hadn't pushed myself on those so anything would have been a PR. Pretty sure I can go up a little more, but wanted to work on form! Felt good though.Current Log:

Another great workout, really pushed this one. Had a few new PRs, which is always great! Wanted to get in some good burn before the eating started. Was up pretty early and the gym was empty, just a few other people. Wrecked my shoulders, they were burning for a while. Plus I got my Arnold's up, although in the middle I could barely lift them ( dunno what happened there lol) Dips are slowly getting easier. All in all another great workout, but I am looking forward to having a day off! Need to rest the muscles a little.Current Log:
