I heard that doing chin-ups are a really good exercise to get good at. i have got no place to do them though- i was looking at bars to buy and i saw one at:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/3003341.htm
I was wondering if anyone could check it out and see how it fits on. it says it can hold 15 stone so i just cant see how it can fit on and be easily removed!
thanks

You just twist it and it extends, twist it the other way and it shortens. It'll fit any doorway. It can't handle 200+ too well. A hell of a lot better than nothing-you need to get a powerrack though for weighted chins.

I have the exact same one.
All it is, is a bar that gets bigger or smaller depending on what way u turn it........you have 2 metal caps with 3 holes in the middle, u screw the caps to either side of the door frame and then put the bar in between them and twist it so it fits into the caps.
Works well but like ExtremistPullup said u cant go very wide so if u wonna hit lats as hard as possible lean back and look up.

I got my chin-up bar from www.ultimatechinningbar.com and I love it! You can do wide grip pull-ups too. It fits across the top of one doorway and can be easily removed if needed. Same company also offers a doorway dip bar. If I remember right, you get a discount if you buy both at the same time.

The bar is supported by some nails that are provided with the bar. You drive a couple in all the way to reinforce the doorway. Two of them are left sticking out about 1/8" to support the bar. Doesn't sound like much but it works! The nails are not noticeable and I can shut the door if I need too (but I don't)...bar stays up 24/7.

I checked out that power tower on sport chalet, it looks really good but its abit expensive and i dont think i would have room for it.
the thing i like about the chin up bar windsrprk got is you can fold it up when its not in use.
So you put some nails in at the top and this supports the bar and strengthens the frame. and when the bar is not in use is the door fully useable like normal? Also is it easy to take it down and put up because i dont think i would be able to have it up 24/7Last edited by 430spider; 11-19-2005 at 04:31 AM.

Hey 430, just wanted to make sure you knew that the bar seen in the ultimate chinning bar link doesn't fold up. It does come down (takes all of 2 seconds) when you don't need or want it at the top of your doorway. It is a very, very sturdy bar, well made, and one piece. Hang it on a hook, lean it up against the wall, or prop it in a corner when its not up and in use. And yes, you can shut the door when the bar is taken down. Make sure to follow the directions on that website so you'll order the correct size of bar. They offer three sizes to fit most doorways.

thanks alot for that- thats really helpful. but it still wont convince my dad to let me have in on my door. in my garage, the roof is supported by wooden beams. do you think i would be able to attach it onto a beam. would it just act like the top of the door frame?
i was also thinking i could just get the cheaper chin up bar and attach it across two of the beams to act like the sides of the door frame? which do you think would be best for me to get?
thanks

I don't like wall mounted, unless the bar is far out enough from the wall that I can do front levers on it. I just ordered this free standing foldable pull up bar to put in my bedroom.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ie=UTF8&psc=1/
It can be as high as 100.4" and easily folds away when I am not using it.
There is also Pull up mate
https://www.pullupmate.com/products.html/
And Gobeast
https://www.amazon.com/GoBeast-Pull-...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
What I wanted was something tall enough that I can go straight leg if I wanted and can be taken apart/folded to get it out of the way. Will be using my Oly rings on it for ring dips/push ups and Angles 90 so I don't have to do pronated grip pull ups.

There is also Dragon Door Bodyweight Master. I have a Cap half rack and parallel bars in my back yard. If I had known about this then, it'd be in my back yard.
