I want to know what happens if too much Whey protein is consumed in a day, or in general?
IS it adding to weight or fat in anyway?
I started to use Whey yesterday only for the first time. I had six scoops over two days, and tonite I feel dizzy and my body is heated up. Its as if my blood pressure has gone up.
It could be unrelated as well, because I did not get enough sleep last night. In either case, I just want to know what happens if too much Whey is consumed.
Thanks!

id say 3 scoops is DEFINATLY too much, thats 3 shakes, my friend lifts and is HUGE and he only drinks 2 protien shakes a day.
if your trying to loose weight, drink only one and get your protein from other places like people above suggested, all protein does is keep your body from burning muscle, but your body will most likely burn fat before it starts in on the muscleheaviest point of my life 2004 371lbs

If you each too much whey protein in combinations with the right amount of carbs and EFA's, and lift weights hard...you might find yourself getting really really huge muscles
keep eating the whey protein
eat lots and lots and lots of it
it is good stuffLast edited by new2lifting; 09-15-2005 at 06:03 AM.

I throw a scoop of whey in my morning bowl of Go Lean w/skim milk (it makes it a strawberry milk and cereal combo - very good!
And then I have a scoop w/skim pre-work out
And then I have a scoop w/water post-work out
Thats 3 scoops.
and you're sll saying that is too much?
Each scoop has 24 g's of protein. that's 72g's - about half of my daily needs (at 1g per lb). There is no way in H E double hockey stick I can get any more protein from food with my life style. I eat cottage cheese, plain yogurt, chicken, turkey, tuna - I am ALWAYS EATING and still can't get it in. I am having real issues with getting enough calories - the shakes help. So. If 3 is too much, i'm screwed.
To original poster, it's either intolerance or something else. TRy a different protein. I really like both Designer Whey and ON 100% whey. Both can be found at GNC.

LoL. Living the simple life, one would think so. But when you work 50 hours a week, go to school 6 hours a week and have a 3 year old child to care for - supplementing protein suffices. I can't eat tuna all day long, my diet needs diversity - everone's does Can't crack open a can of tuna in traffic either. Mixing up a shake works for me and my life. That is all there is too it. At least half of my protein is coming from real food, thats all I care about.

Since we're on the topic of Whey, I figured I'd chime in with my questions here instead of clogging up the board with new topics..
Backround.. Im 5'10", 224lbs (down from 265).. I do not know my bf percentage but i plan on buying either one of those scales or caliper kit to help me keep track of that..
Ive cut my diet down to ~2000 calories a day and am eating usually 4 times a day.. Breakfast, Lunch, Mid afternoon, Supper.. and try to stick to 40:40:20 protien:fat:carbs
Im doing a 3 day split weight schedule (which i found on this board) and do cardio 3 days a week on days when i do not lift..
Im reading that you should eat 1g of protien per 1lb of bodyweight, and looking at my diet I appear to take in around 150-160g's.. should I be using whey to make up that ~60g gap? Also, could I use whey and say a granola bar as a mid-morn meal (which i havent been eating) ?..
I signed up on fitday.com a while ago but Just made the decision to utilize it yesterday.. heres a look at what my intake was yesterday.. http://fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJourn...Month=8&Day=14
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. This message has been brought to you inpart by Greenpeace, and the National Association of Whale Killers.

Everybody's body is different and will react negatively/positively to different things. Take a break and try it again at a later time to make sure that it's the whey and not something else. Whey is an awesome supplement so let's hope it's not that. Make sure you are getting enough carbs, fats and most importantly water. Whey protein can give you kidney stones if you don't wash out the calcium with plenty of water.
