Simply because they are atheists. It is barbaric, and that is why i am questioning my faith(very srs), as many Christians seem to strongly believe in this theory.
I have considered Judiasm as it seems like a very peaceful religion that doesn't have the whole "believe what we say or burn for eternity" garbage associated with it.

lol, wut. You have to be kidding me. You must be thinking of the watered down version of Judaism, not the Judaism that was originally found in the Old Testament.
And what is with people converting to another religion simply because they are bothered by certain facts of their own religion? Why not just convert to Scientology if you're going to go for something simply because you enjoy it? Scientology seems pretty cool. Aliens and super powers and sh*t. It seems to me that you just want a warm and fuzzy religion and you really don't care about the facts at all. You seem like an atheist yourself - you just don't want to admit it because you've been scared with the hell BS.

you are absolutely right!
it is barbaric and absurd...you are right to question your faith!
allow me to point out, that what you have mentioned is not the only asinine belief related to christianity. there are countless others!
this is just the tip of the iceberg!
let this be the beginning for you; christianity was not handed down by god, christianity is a flawed religion made up by ancient, ignorant men."As sure as the world stands, you jf1 shall spend an eternity in Hell in eternal torment..."

It's not even as much that. What gets me is the notion that God would supposedly send someone to a place as horrifying as hell for something so petty as not believing he exists when he gives no evidence that he exists in the first place. Even if he provided proof that he exists, it still makes no sense to make someone endure such horror because he didn't want to worship you.

Then check out mormons, they don't believe that atheists or anyone else goes to hell. www.mormon.org actually mormons don't even believe in a traditional hell. Just different degrees of glory.
You can, and need to find a ground that you know you are suppose to stand on.. hence, stand your ground, this is the place where you know everything is as it should be for you. If you stand in a place where you know in your heart things are wrong, most things around you will never be right.
Rule number one, never work at being what another man defines as being "honorable", Honorable is is being true to what you know and and doing what you know is right for you..

lol, you're so an atheist.
And even if people DID believe and still didn't want to have anything to do with him, it would be really screwed up to torcher them for eternity because of it. I mean, how petty and egotistical is that? That's totally a human character trait - not the trait of a perfect god.

Atheist will be in Hell, but not just because there atheist but because they like all humans are sinners who have sinned against God their all separated from a holy God because of their sins.. All humans are headed to eternity seperated from God in hell unless they repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ.. Makes no different whether someone is an atheist, muslim, catholic, hindu, buddhist, etc, etc. even many professing Christians will wind up in hell, because they havn't been born again of the spirit by trully repenting of their sins and placing their faith in Jesus Christ. (www.christiananswers.net)... Really doesen't sound like to me that your trully grounded in the faith if your considering leaving it - you must be born again of the spirit of the living God to enter the kingdom of heaven - only through Jesus Christ can a man be saved there is absolutely no other way!
Look there's an Atheist..... I don't believe it for it is written every Knee shall Bow and every Tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (www.gotquestions.org) (www.christiananswers.net)

As christians are prone to do, the definition of hell has recently been changed. Hell is no longer a place of eternal pain and torture, it's an eternal separation from god. The church realized they were losing a lot of money oops I mean people for the very same reason you're questioning your faith.

You're going to love this. First off you don't go to hell for being gay. Only for having hot gay sex . Here's where it gets good though. Mormons believe that all gay people will be turned straight after the resurrection.
Ok I just contradicted myself, if you have hot gay sex you won't go to hell, you will go to a degree of glory but it won't be the highest kingdom and you go there you go alone vs the highest kingdom or celestial kingdom where you go with your family. And only those that are sealed as husband and wife in the Temple and live worthy will get to have sex. And that only happens if you make it to the celestial kingdom and are married to a women. So for gays the idea of having to have hetero sex for eternity sounds more like hell but since mormons don't believe in hell oh man this is confusing.
This makes me lol because most of us would be pissed if we were made straight after the resurrection.
Yeah and about the proselyting card it did get revoked so I downloaded a trial copy, it's good for 90 days.Last edited by mntbikedude; 11-11-2010 at 04:04 PM.

For the thousandth time yes, but I doubt they are the souls of the dead. I believe it is more likely to be due to how certain people's brains function- in other words it is far more likely that there is a scientific reason for why some people experience them, than there is for an out of this world reason.
Of course that is not to say that it is impossible that there is a life after this one- but I sure as hell do not see the point in getting excited about something that we will not know until we pass- much better to enjoy the life we know we are living now.

That doesn't answer my question at all, you are simply stating mainstream Christianity talking points.
If sinners are doomed to hell and all people are imperfect and born with original sin, then shouldn't we all just get a free pass and be allowed into heaven? Since we are imperfect and thus illogical in God's eyes, wouldn't it be logical to assume that even if we are given a free pass to heaven in Jesus, that many of us would reject it because of our own imperfections that we were born with?
And how is it fair that we are born with sin and thus are doomed to hell(if we don't accept Jesus) because of what two people did thousands/millions/trillions of years ago in a garden with a snake? Why the hell should I be punished for their own stupidity? Why should I possibly be sent to hell because some idiot ate an apple from a talking snake?
Wouldn't it be more moral for God to just make it (A.) easier to go to heaven by either making himself appear or loosening the restrictions, (B.) eliminating hell, or (C.) stop supposedly sending people to hell for reasons as petty as not believing he exists.u mad?

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Ironically, the Bible even admits that there are people who don't believe....although, it also says in the OT that all people believe.
And it's just ridiculous that a murderer and rapist could get into heaven simply for saying "sorry" to god and meaning it, but an atheist who helps people his whole life would burn in hell. Why should anyone apologize to god? How does that change what they did? A murderer leaves behind dead bodies and gets into heaven while an atheist leaves behind people he helped and he burns in hell.

The link I provided has all the answers you have questions too... But I will give a few quick answers for you.... I want you to take this slow and think about what I am to say.... You asked since sinners are doomed to hell, because of sin shouldn't they be given a free pass into heaven? My question to you should God allow humanity who live in aboslute defiance, revolt, and rebellion toward him and his word be allowed to enter a holy heaven, should he allow unrepentant thieves, rapist, murderers into heaven?.. If unrepenant sinners were allowed to enter Gods holy presence it would no longer be holy it would look just like this earth.... God can only justify a sinner by his grace if that person sincerely repents of their sins and places their faith in Jesus Christ....As for your other question that many people would reject the free gift of salvation through Christ - the answer is yes - most will refuse to repent and obey God because of their pride and love for sin - the bible teaches that the road to salvation is very narrow and very few walk that path, but it also teaches the road to destruction (hell) is very broad and most walk that path... Each human decides their own Eternal fate!
Look there's an Atheist..... I don't believe it for it is written every Knee shall Bow and every Tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (www.gotquestions.org) (www.christiananswers.net)
