Listen gents, I hear all over the place "Ohh hey has bad genetics he has good genetics, I wan't thouse Genetics" It's all bull shTT The human body can be pushed further than you'v ever pushed it in your life.
Allow me to explain. several years back I was 330-332 6'2 a large tub of lard. Currently i'm around 210 6'2 an a half. Never once did I say "I can't because of Genetics" You can't because your not pushing yourself at the gym.
When a human body is fat, and you wish for it to become skinny and fit every single day that body will try to become fat as that is what it's use to. The only way to beat this is hard hard hard work. Genetics only makes up a very small part of anyones Potentail. If you are not as 'big or lean' as your friend it is because your friend is working harder than you, now some may say "Well my friend never worksouts and has a 6 pack" Lolz trust me, that'll go away without hard work.
Anyone can do anything and be as strong pound for pound as anyone if you put had work into it, Now everybody is diffrent in it's own way and sometimes takes longer than other human bodies, Well my only advice to that is..simply suck it up, man up and press on to your goals because Success will come, It may take a long time but in the end you'll be happy.
My gents out there who are 5'5-5'11 Don't ever say you can't be like your friend whois 6'2 and built like a tank, because if you try and you do, you'll one day be better. Just because your short does not mean you have bad genetics, it's all a buncha crap if you set your mind to a goal and srsly push yourself to that goal, Success will come trust me. I'v personally proven it to myself.

Other than the last line where it seems like you're claiming you can train to make yourself taller....
The rest of it is pretty much right.
As far as body composition goes, yeah there may be very real genetic limits to what you can achieve but basically no one is anywhere near that.
The vast majority of us have been training for a couple of years or less. We're all right at the start of a long journey to see what our limits are.
If you aren't gaining weight (and want to), you're not eating enough. If you are gaining fat and not muscle, there's something wrong with your training. If you can't lose weight, you're eating too much.
I also don't understand the massive amount of reports on internet forums of people who're in awesome shape without effort due to genetics, I've never seen any one of these genetic freaks in my life. It's easy to look at a snapshot of other peoples' lives and say you work harder, but it's a passing glance at someone's life and invariably there's more to it than you know.A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or dies.

your personal example for genetics is ****. going from a fat ass to a leaner guy is not genetics. that is just losing weight. genetics plays a bigger role in size, shape of muscles not whether you can lose a **** load of weight that you yourself put on. props to you for losing the weight. but cut down or bulk up to the point where you can see muscle striations and muscle shape then come bacck here andd tell me genetics don't play a vital role in what a person can and can not look like.

Ugh..i'm 6'2 i don't wish to be any taller i'm happy just where I am.
And for the most part some of you'll dug to deep into the sience behind this, this was simply a lil pick me up for anyone feeling down and such, Yes genetics do play a role, i understand this but like the other fella said. You'll deff have not reached your Genetic max.
