This is a picture of a close friend of mine. He recently just turned 19. I chill with this guy nearly everyday. Diet is whatever, Mcdonalds here and there, maybe 4 meals a day, 2 of them being fast foods 2 of them being whatever is at home. He has a protein shake here and there. Trains ONLY Biceps, Chest and back. Notice how his delts, tris and abs don't like like as if they are lagging even though they are never directly hit? Doesn't curl more than 35DBs, main chest exercise is smith machine BB press. There you go guys, fair amount of lean muscle mass with a low bodyfat. If he posted his diet and trainning routine he'd get flamed on the forums. I forgot to mention we completely get smashed 3 times a month. Now don't get me wrong the guy doesn't look amazing, but he looks a hell of a ton better than 90% of the guys posting their 1 year trainning progress with a perfect routine and diet.
Genetics = Bodybuilding.

While you are right there are exceptions out there, and genetics do play a large role, you can't rule out hard work and dedication. In terms of just looks ya some people look ripped without trying to be but I thought BBing was also about something called strength and discipline. Its like sure this or that dude "looks better" with a ****ty routine and stuff but if your training proper chances are u can put up more weight and will have looks along with much more strength in the long run.
Never underestimate daily, consistent action coupled with the magical power of time.

No, just no. He looks like all he does is bench and curl. Amazing genetics? I think not. Some people just have genetics to be lean, doesn't make them born for bodybuilding.

Hard work/dedication > Genetics.
However, genetics does play a role. Just not a significant one, in my opinion.

Why'd I have reason to make up ****? I always hear ppl on these forums say "omg I know x guy that eats and trains like crap but his physique is stylin on mine, wtf?"" but I never see pix. I thought i'd post an example. I never said the guy looks great, I just said for someone that doesn't train/eat the way he should he looks really good.

He looks like he might do stuff you dont know about
Each evening I go to bed with doubt by my side and each morning I wake with doubt to greet me. It ain’t easy to live with that sh*t, but it is a part of the uncommon life. There are no promises or guarantees, only an untold future with no regard for your desire for comfort or security.

One thing i've come to do whenever i see someone with "good genetics" is look at their back/traps. usually they don't have either.
though, while big arms/chest are impressive, it's back/legs that really count to me anywayLast edited by Dextrine; 06-09-2010 at 04:31 PM.
