most are in great shape as athletes

they might not look like bodybuilders (cut+big) and that look is often detrimental to cardio (often more so at the higher weight classes) and that time spent on looks can be spent doing skill work at a high level of competition

they're there to be good at their sport first before aesthetics

check out Team Hammerhouse...they always look good, but they almost always gas before their opponents

now check out Cain Velasquez or Fedor for guys with guts who have better cardio than many of their counterparts who are muscular and have visible abs

I personally don't like this cert. thing with MMA conditioning, all of these trainers are having high level athletes do things that don't help with high end performance* such as bosu ball squats and all this instability stuff....it's detrimental to athletes unless they are doing something like surfing as an example as a sport, I don't have the studies on me but they're out there

I think this cert is a waste of time... No accreditation and is just riding the coattails of the MMA fad.

Having this cert would only really appeal to the gym rats who want to get "hardcore" because they just watched a mma match or played StreetFighter. Most people don't understand the dedication it takes to be a fighter and don't understand that getting punched in the face hurts... a lot.

    yes sir, kudos

have you seen the home gym with bands that they've been pushing
with Randy Couture...I'll be damned if he actually uses that
door contraption as a major part of his strength training

    ok about the sarcasm, but

MMA is NOT as anaerobic as was once thought, that has been debunked.
Have you kept up with the latest research?

Yes, anaerobic work is important, but many have been taking this too seriously and have been putting off aerobic work, instead going straight for anaerobic work without first building a good aerobic base which will allow one to do even better when moving on to anaerobic work than if one goes straight to it from the start.

Well ya I agree with that. Still does not mean that mma is primarily aerobic. Think about it is a fighter going to run, run, run, or condition with intervals, complexes and circuits?

So after you Spend $500 to get your cert, does one also have to spend over $1k in your "MMAACA coaches pack"?

NEW! The MMACA has partners with Perform Better to create 3 equipment packages for our coaches. Decide which one is best for your needs and budget.

do you show drills with normal stuff or only using the tools/equipment that you also sell?
