Your descent into the hole is pretty rapid, that will probly bury you at heavier weights. Overall, it's not too too bad. What percentage of your 1rm is this? You could work on sitting back more, which can be said about every single squat vid ever, but try and break at the hips a little more and sit back moreso at the beginning instead of breaking at the knees first. Overall it's pretty solid though, post a vid of you working around 90% of your max(if this is it, then my bad, good stuff)
edit-i watched again, are you doing paused squats or something?

it is very hard to tell, but it looks like your feet are really close together. nothing wrong with a narrow stance, but if you are just trying to learn the lift it may be better to start with the standard shoulder width stance.
other than that, it looks pretty good to me. you do not have to sit back at all, that is a different kind of squat.
oh, when you unrack the bar i noticed you are geting up on your tiptoes. i suggest lowering the bar to the next level on the rack. once you get to heavier weights it will be difficult for you to unrack and rack the bar if it is too high.i'm hungry

type youtube and /youtube surrounded by [ ]. Then between the youtube tags, put in the video code. For your video it was pDQyAh2IT1M (what comes after the = in the address)
Why does he need to sit back and break at the hips if his olympic style squat seems to be working very well for him?
OP, I agree that at heavier weights the drop might end up making it hard on you, but chances are, you'll know that, and not drop as quick with heavier weights.
^ That. On every single account.
Why? Who said he has to do a power lifters squat? He has a high bar position, and it looks like a narrower stance. Seems prime to have a knee break, sit down style.
Again, why does he HAVE to use a power lifters style?
Olympic style squat breaks at the knees first.
^ That
He is from Israel and those plates look too big for 5lbs. So I'm guessing 55kg.Last edited by chazzy1864; 08-31-2009 at 04:49 PM.

actually, it was shoulder width stance, it's just that i'm 6'4 and my shoulders aren't very wide.
and also, it was a low bar position, the bar wasn't on my traps, it was on that small bone next
to the rear delt. and yeah lol i don't know who the hell plays the music at my gym xd. the squat i was trying to perform was the squat according to mark rippetoe and the reason i paused was that otherwise i wouldn't manage to finish the set. it was 55kg and 3 sets of 5. this time i took a wider stance and squatted 3x5x60 here it is:

Wow, well if you were trying to do a powerlifters style squat, then I feel like an ass, and you need to go back to the drawing board.
That was no where close to a power lifter squat. It was damn near a perfect olympic squat.
The bar wasn't in a low bar position. Your feet were too close together, and you didn't break at the hips or sit back at all.
Fix those, and you have a power lifter style.-

for the record, i dont feel like an ass at all.
honestly not trying to be mean but i dont see how you can read rip's description of a squat or watch one of his vids, and come away with the squat that you did OP, lol. on the positive side, you have the oly squat down pretty good!
so yah, sit back. i also suggest lowering the weight, maybe to what you use for warmups to practice a bit. it is going to feel different. maybe post another vid when you get a chance.
by chance have you gotten to see rips vid about fixing hip drive? if not, i highly recommend it.i'm hungry
