mayweather is a thoroughbred, ufc figthers are highly trained mules at best. you cant compare the two of them. Mayweather has been boxing since he was a year old and had two of the best trainers in the buisness train him, his father and his uncle. 90% of UFC fighters have only been fighting for 4-5 years, half the people in the ufc should be considered an amateur still. Maybe in 20 years when kids are growing up training in MMA then the UFC will be top notch but until then, the UFC is nothing but a bunch of washed up wrestlers, weekend boxing, training jiu-jitsu for a year or they watched a DVD on it amateur's. They dont suck, but they are just amateurs at best...

Talk about a bunch of dumbasses who don't understand what it takes to be a well rounded fighter. I'm not saying Mayweather isn't at the top of his game and in great shape. But for him to say that the UFC ain't **** is really really stupid and a desprite act of a failing sport. And for those of you saying he would beat any UFC fighter in a UFC fight is like saying cricket player would clean up at baseball game because they both hit a ball? He would get smashed just like if any UFC fighter fought him in a boxing match.

Exactly. A boxer (even the best in the world) would get raped in the UFC. Boxers don't fight on the ground. END OF STORY. Boxers have no take down defense, no kicking defense, and no MMA experience. Let any boxer take a few solid leg kicks, and then we'll see how much longer they stay on their toes. Take down, ground and pound, end of fight. Two different sports, and that is it.

Mayweather > MMA fighter in (Boxing)
MMA fighter > Mayweather (MMA)
This is not hard to understand
Considering how much money Mayweather makes, and therefore how much time he can and must spend training, it is easy to believe that he would be far more athletic than an MMA fighter who must work another job to survive.

I dosagree with how "may weather would work these guys"
That is bull****.. have you seen some of the MMA guys who are TOP CLASS in their martial arts...
UFC and Pride have the top dogs for what they do.. that is the bottom line. There is nothing to even compare here, like wtf...
of course Mayweather could take plenty of MMA guys .. IN BOXING.
Get him in a cage/ring during an MMA match and watch him get piss stomped when he gets taken down and doesn't know what the hell to do.
The way I see it.. boxing is like 'being 1/10th as tough as MMA guys'
I say this because boxing is only a small skill that MMA guys know...
A boxer can.. do a UFC event, and do a boxing event.
MMA guys can do..
westling
boxing
kick boxing
muay thai
jui jitsu
probably karate, taekwondo, etc..
Its a much more well rounded sport... and the fact that the MMA guys can hang in any division they want is what seperates the men from the boys.Last edited by AllSho; 04-24-2007 at 03:01 AM.

You know, who cares if Mayweather is a better "athlete"?
Who in the UFC would stand and box with a boxer?????? That would be a great risk....
Leg kick him, shoot in, take him to the ground and bend his elbows the wrong way or choke his IGNORANT ass unconscious!!! Guaranteed to finish this way.
If you don't think so, you sir, are sorely mistaken and need to go watch UFC 1-4. They happened the way they did for a reason, you know. At the end of the day, a boxer is a one-dimensional fighter no matter how good of an athlete he is.

LOL... are f#cking kidding me. whats the biggest payday a fighter gets in MMA. I doubt its in the millions. pretty boys payday with the golden boy is more than all the paydays in the UFC for the whole year.
*
The Canadian Press is reported that Matt Hughes earned $130,000 for his UFC 63 win. His opponent, BJ Penn, earned $50,000 for the fight. The real winner of the night seems to be Jens "Little Evil" Pulver, who reportedly earned $30,000 for his loss to Joe Lauzon. Lauzon earned $6,000 for the upset win.
*Rumor has it that Tito Ortiz will be made 1 million dollars for fighting Ken Shamrock on SpikeTV this tuesday. This would be him rarified company indeed; people who have made over 1 million in a single MMA fightThe only other people I can think of who have commanded this is much is Royce Gracie and Rickson Gracie (who's rumored 2 million for fighting Funaki is the largest purse ever).
*******************************
De La Hoya will make $25 million & Mayweather $10 million (The second biggest payday in boxing history for two fighters in one bout. The biggest ever was Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield (2nd meeting))
Do a little research before you start talking sh!t.Cha Cha Cha

I can understand what Mayweather is saying. Boxing has been around a LONG time. UFC is a little baby. The above poster is right about most people fighting MMA 5 years or something like that. You basically have people few people that started MMA that have been doing it for 15+ years like most top level boxers. Most guys in the MMA world started as boxers, kickboxers, bjj, submission wresting etc. THey did that for SEVERAL years before they started doing the other things that make them MMA athletes. Thinks about it how many COMPLETE MMA guys are out there. Thats what I think floyd is saying when he said that. MMA is young and doesn't have the history boxing has thats all.
I do like BOTH Boxing and MMA.Cha Cha Cha
