Looks like it's weakening. Went from 140 MPH winds to 135 today. Hopefully it will be a depression when it hits. Our chief engineer asked me if we had anything in the basement that I cared about. I was like, why? He said, "well, do you care if it gets wet when it floods?" Well, the building's Internet connection is down there and only about 1/2 the tenants use it!

Severe weather like that would be a very serious drawback...lol Hopefully you come through ok...the wind today blew a bunch of trees over and power out. Most of the people I saw today with bikes were walking alongside them and pushing them around...
Boo indeed.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

It was raining today when I left...also took the car, but mainly because I am in process of installing a rear rack and adjusting the brake cables and didn't want to ride anymore until I got that done...
I didn't click that link because I are scared.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Bike Post
Rocking out the past two nights has not done my Legs any favors, so I elected not to commute today. Additionally, I had a number of tweaks and modifications I wanted/needed to do both on riding glasses (left my other ones about an hour away at the practice spot, so I had to modify my spare pair so I could have something to use on Sunday) and the bike itself. After that was done, I took the bike out a bit tonight, just to test and make sure everything was in order. Front brakes, which I use most, almost exclusively at times, now is about where I like it. Back could be a bit tighter, but not to the point where I feel like screwing with it. Gear changing is improving, but I'm not sure how much better I will be able to get it without tossing the entire back axle and possibly the rest of the gear changing mechanism. That strikes me as pointless, as I may as well just get a new bike that shifts better at that point. So, the ride was just 1.5 miles total, since there is a storm outside and the sun went down and I really don't like riding in the dark without lights as it is. It was a nice cool night; I really wish I could have gotten things together faster...
I do have a new rear rack on the back of it now, which looks vaguely like it was designed for the bike close up and looks more like it from a distance. I also have a saddlepack that I've stuffed with liners, tubes, patches and tire levers. This means that I can run the 50K very early Sunday morning without having to take the backpack and just concentrate then on riding. The rack, which is mostly a glorified locking bike chain holder, is of the "solid" design, so I can avoid water getting kicked up on me, at least from behind. I also bought some gels, so I think I will be taking nothing but straight water with me on the actual ride itself. I should be going early enough that dehydration should not really be an issue, at least not from heat. Probably one of those waters, come to think of it, will have Poseidon in it...
I still need to air up the tires more (as usual) and then spend almost all of tomorrow resting and prepping for Sunday. Right now, the plan is to try to wake up around 4:30AM or so and try to get out there by 5:30AM to start the ride, which is an hour before projected sunrise. I should, therefore, have the entire track to myself and with any luck, will be able to ride the entire thing on the running track. If that plan winds up getting scrapped, for whatever reason, I think I'm just going to calculate the mileage and do a "there and back" run to somewhere else...the weather is supposed to be very mild that day, though I would rather do it at the track...
In other news, Monday will be the start of a Controlled Labs PM REDuction Log. As usual, I'll be taking measurements and so on at the start of it. The Log itself won't commence with me taking anything until Monday night, but I will start the Log proper on Monday morning. YanYan was also generous enough to send me a few other goodies to try, most of which will have to wait until after the PM Log concludes. Among the things he sent that has not had to wait is their newest product, the Purple InTrain. A review thread for that will be going up tonight, at his request, with my thoughts to date, though I have not tested it in actual usage as of yet, discounting a very brief 1.5 mile run on the bike tonight...testing in a live application environment probably will not come for a while yet, but it will come.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Bike Post
After prepping all day yesterday, which included a higher intake of carbs in the last couple of days to ramp up than probably the preceding few weeks and included a nifty chicken recipe from an old M & F mag, I hit the rack early and then wound up with a bad case of sour stomach to the extent that I could not sleep due to the pain. Fun stuff, compounded by me not being able to get the temperature set right. Instead of being able to go at 4:30, I just shut everything off and waited. I finally gave up at around 8:30 and spent the next couple hours cramping on and off, while I slowly loaded things to try to go for it anyway. I left here, got about halfway to the track and realized I had left my water bottles at the spot and that I had not put on sunblock, both of which are gigantic no-nos. So, I turned back and it finally dawned on me that I may as well stop fighting, since it was just not going to happen today. Instead, despite continued gut cramping, I tried to do speed trials again, but my old nemesis came up haunting and that did not happen, either. I did do a decent amount of exploring, but it was very casual, 55 minutes of that and around 12 miles. I have officially ridden more miles now than all of last year, which is progress of a sort, I guess...
I had to stop that and come back because the cramping was getting too severe and because I had somewhere I was supposed to be at around that time frame, though that got postponed several hours. I hope to be able to get out and try again a bit later this afternoon. I've been debating going now, but the cramping has yet to subside and when I go off exploring (gotta love Google maps), I'd like to be able to take a better run at the speed trials...obviously, I'm find all of this incredibly annoying and inconvenient, especially since I took my last Cardio Blast today...on the other hand, I have the next couple of days off, so postponing the 50K until tomorrow will have to work...but it will have to be then, since I only have one day left of the Cordygen V02...
Tomorrow, of course, is when I had intended to resume lifting, since the Shoulder seems to be back to behaving finally, as well as starting the CL REDuction PM Log...Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Bike Post Updated
All that and more...I just got back from another ride, this one around 40 minutes and 8 miles roughly...I felt I should try to get the exploring I wanted in as soon as I could so I could rest longer in the event my guts settle down enough to do the 50K tomorrow...my personal impression is no, but I guess we'll see...I will still wake up at the time I mentioned in earlier posts and see how I feel...if sleep is crap again, though, I probably will just do time trials...
I could not stop myself from going out again to explore new territory and I'm glad I did...I believe I have found the runway in which I can break the 40 barrier. Today, without much trying, I very easily hit 35 mph. Had there not been cars and much slower riders (I went by one like he was standing still, but the road bottlenecked and a car was coming up behind me before I could pass the other, so I had to slow way down), I probably would have broken the 40 mph barrier today. Once I do, that will conclude my time trials as I have questions about the stability of that bike at speed. Today, for instance, given the road was crappy and I was getting bombed with a cross-wind, it felt a lot shakier than I felt it should. This reinforces my feeling that the next bike I get will be a much longer frame than the one I have, probably a 25". I will also not be getting the straight handlebars.
Shifting was ok today, but still needed a couple of minor tweaks. I did not really have a lot of push today overall...it was there when I needed it but much of the riding today was of a sightseeing/exploratory nature. Air was solid and Legs were pretty good, though my bottom apparently has some displeasure with those rides. The model bike I have for this year has come out with a re-designed seat, which of course is not commercially available for sale yet...if I remember, I will go into the bike shop and see if they have one so I can see what it's all about and if I want one, but if I can keep consistency, the one I have is pretty good as is.
I really wanted to get into the gym yesterday, but could not think of a single lifting workout that would not have impaired the 50K...I'm kind of irritated still that my body has betrayed me the way it has, since it throws my plans off slightly, but I still intend on hitting the gym, regardless of whatever riding I do tomorrow...
Further compounding my frustration is the person I'm supposed to meet up with today keeps postponing...now it's tonight...I could have went back up the hill and re-charged down it and was planning on doing so, but had to get back to meet the second meeting time, postponed from the first and now re-postponed again...I do not see me re-heading out again to try it one more time, though, but I still cannot hit the gym, either, as I would much rather do, gut cramping be damned.Last edited by EMISGOD; 08-09-2009 at 01:53 PM.

lol So what can I tell you, sir? The timing here is just a bitter pill as I've been planning this since last month and spending a lot of time in positioning so it could happen...
Hang in there, get better, and then get back to work when you can. It ain't fun, but that's the way it goes. I hope you're able to do the 50k tomorrow. I've been hearing a lot about it.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Nice to see you here...Saturday was not really rough; mostly just prepping and relaxing. Saturday night/Sunday morning, however...a whole other story...I think I'm going to get some ice cream bars to have on hand as those historically do a very nice job of easing my stomach the infrequent times it has happened in the past, if there is a recurrence tonight...the person I was going to meet just bumped the time again, so I will have to be out a bit later than planned, presuming I'm still awake. If I'm feeling it (and I kind of am), I might just cash out earlier than normal tonight.
I'm running out of season and events that I want to do, so I'd really rather get that 50K pinned down and out of the way now, so I can maybe do a sponsored version of one of those or a 100K, depending on the timing and what's still left open. I don't think I will make a century this year and maybe not ever with my current bike as I just don't know how that would go. If there is one still around in October, I might try it anyway, but I'd need to consult the remaining event schedule first...all that speculation is really cart before horse at this point, however...Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Log Post
Cross-posted from REDuction PM Log
Workout: Chest
Exercises Used:
BB Flat Press = 2 Warm-up sets
Dips = 4 Work sets (BWX7,6,6,6)
Hammer Decline = 3 Work sets (190X8, 230X6, 270X4*)
Hammer Super Incline = 3 Work sets (120X6, 110X8, 100X10)
Fly Press = 3 Work sets (45sX7, 42.5sX8X2)
* = Goal.
Quality Level: Outstanding. I definitely broke myself off a piece for this one. Warm-ups felt pretty light, Dips went pretty well and the Hammer Decline was going smooth, so I decided to just go for one of my strength goals. Regular readers of my ongoing Log know that I make Goal posts with various strength and performance goals. One of them was the 270 for reps on the Hammer Decline, which I successfully completed today. After that, I breezed through the rest of the workout, winding it down a bit since my Chest was definitely feeling it. My Right Shoulder had been giving me fits on and off last week, but most of that seems to have subsided now...still, I elected not to press my luck, just take my victory and go home.
Observations/Intel: I am debating and may go out to do bike time trials again today. Right now, the wind is blowing in the wrong direction and it's hotter than I want to go out in and I, of course, just got back from the Lifting workout. This may wind up being pushed out until tomorrow.
Pretty much gone is the 50K, unfortunately. I noted that the football team at that high school has evidently started up practices...I might try to sneak over there one of the coming weekends and if they're there, ask if they mind if I circle the track 125 times on my bike, but maybe I will just find an event instead and ride one...not sure on this. I woke up today with a rather brutal head fog and needed to fulfill that meeting from yesterday that kept getting postponed. As it was, I wound up waiting 20 minutes for them, which annoyed me to no end as people falling through on plans that we made generally screws what I'm doing, since I have quite a lot planned usually in very little time. With the cancellation of the 50K (I might try it tomorrow morning, depending on what happens with the time trial today), I have most of what I had planned to do over this 4 day break done, actually, just a couple more things and that will be it.
I also meant to mention this earlier, but I recently saw some of the pictures from the 20th year anniversary of my class. It was curious, seeing how ravaged some of them are and I can honestly say that not one of the males is in better shape than me and only one of the females was arguably either the same or possibly in better shape. It is probably mean-spirited of me to say that, but I also found it incredibly heartening and it is the truth.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Thanks hon.
I have not been to a single one of my reunions, actually...mostly because of disinterest, but the last two because of scheduling conflicts...maybe the next one, maybe not...who knows? They don't know what I look like, so it's not really gloating. I have not even extended them a picture of myself, to be frank...I'm content with me knowing.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991

Nice Workout bro! It'll be a good week, I can already tell...
You'll get the 50k sometime. How many more years do you plan to be alive? You got time I tell ya!
You are just a stud bro. Face it! I recently was back in my hometown and I definitely and looking bigger (more muscular) than any of my classmates. Some are just downright fat and sloppy...WTF? Training for life and other stuff!
