My friend from high school was doing this with 300 lbs. I've never seen or read about this before. He was doing bench press with underhand grip of the bar. How does this differ from the overhand? I've never tried it, but it looks dangerous.

Seriously, underhand bench really works you muscles in a good way for good bench poundages apparently. It hits mostly tris and front delts and some chest and lats. Its underrated really and "akward" for most, but it will help most in benching good numbers if mastered.
