Building a new rig. Full overkill as always

I know the 7000 series processors are about to be replaced, but AMD themselves came out and said that the 9000x series won't beat the 7000x3d chips in gaming, so I pulled the trigger now. With my board having both PCIe 5.0 M.2 and GPU slots, I'll have cost saving in the future when I upgrade GPU and CPU, with AMD supporting AM5 until 2027.

Case is a Corsair 7000X. I'm using the iCUE LINK system for the fans to keep wiring down.

The new icue link stuff is pretty nice looking. I have 12 corsair fans and 2 controllers for them and boy let me tell you about Dat wiring nightmare. I can't wait to replace all my fans and case with the new fans that just clip together.

1 LINK hub can run 14 devices, so you'll save a lot on wires.

AMD's processors are better than Intel for gaming. The 14900K's are also terrible with heat. The 5000 series is probably being held off until early 2025, and rumor has it that Nvidia is nerfing them because AMD isn't putting out high end cards next generation.

50xx about to come out, dont buy a 4080 yet- or just use your old card until then (it will be cheaper and youll have a better idea of the 50xx performance)

Also, split up the nvme drives for redundancy- and set up a restore point on the backup drive. Otherwise if that drive fails youre fukked.

All xx900K's are terrible with heat and totally unnecessary unless youre doing heavy heavy rendering/lifting.. the xx700K's are overkill for anything else.

Ran into a small hiccup. My PSU only has 3 plug-ins for PCI-E, and my monstrosity of a GPU apparently needs all three, it came with a 3 into 1 power cable. So now I need to order a 6 pin extension cable so I can power my LINK hub

Up and running. Had some usual initial boot up blues, but nothing bad. I thought I had defective RAM because boot-ups took forever and would have post code 15. Turning off memory re-training in the BIOS got it straightened out.

Going with a red white and blue theme for now.

They've introduced some great stuff recently.

Love threads like this, impressed, I just... I just don't PC game all that much. Don't know why, I think it's time for me. I don't have ample free time to just plunk down at my desk and game free of distraction. Handheld or go home for me, but I still love seeing badass chit like this.

I was going to go with a 14900k build, but then I find out not only is the 14900k having insane instability issues that Intel still can't figure out the cause behind them. Even better, it's not just that one CPU, but the13900k, the 14700k, and even the 13700k, too.

Motherboard makers and their out of line specs are getting a share of blame, but at the end of the day the issue still isn't being resolved due to no true cause being identified. :\

So, I'm thinking either going with a 7800x3d or seeing just how long until the 9800x3d because I'm just done with Intel at this point. AMD aren't saints, but they've been looking better and better. Plus, I like how the AMD platform doesn't rely as much on high speed RAM, i.e. overclocking and XMP. I don't have time for that schit, so plugging in a 3D chip and calling it a day is fine by me.

I already have a 4090, and I'm going with a Lian Li case + those mirror fans just to give me something nice to look at.

Although they’re available I went with an OLED that’s 1440 res which imo is the sweet spot for gaming .
From memory I think it’s 165hz .
