Elden Ring is nowhere close to a 10/10. Open world games should not have such a confusing progression path. If you don't have a guide you'll find yourself totally unable to complete most of the side quests, it was so frustrating trying to do things on my own only to realize I need to go online on reddit or YouTube. I guess most gamers are cool with doing that but I hated it.
If you're doing an open world you need to have NPCs and towns and chit where people talk, and a journal of some sort that updates each step of a quest that either tells you where to go or leaves strong hints.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Great point.
Had a BLAST playing Elden Ring.
BUT
If they had dialog and presented the quests like Witcher 3 it would be one of the greatest games ever made. Even in it's right it still is, but it misses the mark to be the complete GOAT for your average gamer. I don't have the time or desire to go online and figure chit out. I'm assuming most others do not either.
As a person with a busy life it took me months to beat. By the time I beat the game I'd forgotten the whole storyline as it isn't explained easily. Recently did some light reading and it has a badass story and lore. If only they could be direct to us gamers LIKE EVERY OTHER NON-FROMSOFT game about the damn story and quests.
For me, I'll continue playing their games strictly for the gameplay and atmosphere but it's a shame they can't make their storyline and lore more accessible and eligible to people not willing to spend hours researching reddit.

The gameplay and sheer amount of builds you can do are fantastic. The setting and art style, chef's kiss.
I gained satisfaction from learning and beating the bosses but I had zero emotional investment in it. When the final boss showed up, I was like.... Uh, who's even that guy? Why do I even care to kill him? It was someone completely new who I'm seeing for the first time and he did nothing bad to me for the entire playthrough so there was zero excitement to get him.
The entire story for me was "I need to rule the world to prevent it from going to chit". So disappointing. When I looked up the story on YouTube I was amazed at how rich and badass the lore was. Problem is I had already finished the game lmao. If they had put that whole story in, like Witcher 3 and made it a narrative game it would have been INSANE.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
