Chimney blocked off? I would be tempted to get rid of it.
I bet that new sound system sounds amazing.

I’d like oust the chimney, but it still goes all the way up to just below the roof line . I couldn’t imagine how many bricks would be involved, then there’s that 4 foot high concrete slab it’s sitting on too boot .
The sound system is super clean sounding imo ,think ,tight ,solid like .
But there’s an issue . Cambridge does not have any crossover management for the front speakers so they are distorting from bass frequencies , especially when I crank up music videos from YouTube. If the fronts were full size speakers that handled 20-80 hz properly, there’d be no issue, but since they are paradigm’s thin model for wall mounting , they aren’t taking the bass well .
So I think for a fix I’ll purchase high pass filters and hopefully that corrects the situation .
Everyone at audioholics is throwing fits regarding me using high pass filters ,saying it will cause horrible distortion etc. but I have to try something.
I used passive crossovers in car audio for years and it was fine for fk sakes .
I may go back to the drawing board . Either the Cambridge has gotta go or the speakers .
I could probably buy raw drivers and build much better speakers myself . In their defence, I mean they’re only just over an inch thick .
My idea is to build corner speakers that still fit the area , but are triangular in shape from the top down . This way I could get the appropriate volume , and it will fit in the same location .
Another idea is to rebuild that shelf and make it deeper with the drivers installed in it , but I’m kind of wanting the look I have now with the speakers beside the oled panelLast edited by MajorTendonitis; 06-16-2024 at 05:59 PM.

So yesterday I ordered a different receiver with some crossover management, a Denon AVRX2800H.
It’s overkill but besides having a low pass filter it also has a high pass filter .
Tbh I’m kind of wondering if I should have purchased an Anthem MRX540 , as I’m a fan of paradigm and anthem products .
What swayed to Denon was my concern with fan noise , as the Anthem uses a small fan on the rear of its chassis that some reviewers claim they can hear . I think in my setup I wouldn’t hear it though , as it will be installed inside a wall .
I’ve already ordered the Denon and unfortunately it’s coming from the US so it won’t be here till July the 6th . Very bummed out about that srs .
It makes me want to just order the Anthem and return the Denon . The Anthem certainly looks more modern , as the the Denon’s design looks pretty dated .
I did make a little progress. My magnets arrived from Amazon and are working well to secure the access panel .
Now I have to build new enclosures as the new stereo isn’t as tall
