Why do successful people like the pro golfer kill themselves?

Why do you think we see so many successful people that have money/in shape etc decide to kill themselves?

Mental health has nothing to do with money.

At the lowest point in my life when I was the most hopeless and in despair I actually was making the most money I ever had. It’s just not related.

He was also an alcoholic and addiction is unrelated to money also.

Oh god.... f*ck off already. We all know it goes against your natural instincts to kill yourself. Stop trying to sound wise about how much more courage it takes to stay alive and endure.

Next thing you're going to tell me is all the self-restraint required by incels to remain virgins in this world. Their self-restraint truly is an amazing feat!!!

you call it courage to destroy the lives of the people that care about you and you leave behind because you just couldnt go on? i've lost friends to suicide and i've seen the aftermath and how much pain they caused. also incel means involuntary so the second line of your reply makes even less sense than the first one

That's the entire point you dumb f*ck. You wouldn't call an incel as having self-restraint the same way you wouldn't call someone courageous for following their natural born instincts to survive and endure at all costs.

Yes there is more courage in going against natural urges. Acts of courage can often leave an aftermath in shambles. Your example of the destruction it causes does not negate whether it is courageous or not. Is it not courageous to go into battle and kill another man in war? Does that not destroy the lives of his loved ones in the process? It's literally the same thing we are talking about here, it's just the life you're taking is not your own. You still have to take a life and you still know full well that by taking that life it will destroy the lives of others.

Or are you so bold that as you sit here on this Memorial Day weekend you can say the acts of soldiers are not ones of courage? Speak now you peasant.

the incel thing was sarcasm, cool, very easy to grasp sarcasm on an internet chat, especially when worded as badly as you did, or maybe i just misinterpreted, cool

really, you dont get it, in one of the cases of personal experience i mentioned above, my friend hanged himself because he was bullied at school, his girl had left him and his dad had cancer, at least these are the reasons i can think about from the outside, he just couldnt cope. did it take more courage to end it or would have taken more courage to watch the slow decline of his father's health and watch the suffering of his family and try to help? and your example about war is just half pertinent, if you gotta kill a man you got no choice, is do or die, ofc it takes courage but being forced to do something is not the same as willingly doing it, suicide is the way out, it takes more balls to stay and fight.

that said, im not gonna entertain your Memorial Day thing because is completely off topic, you are clearly looking to win internet points and polemize but you cant change my mind and i dont even see why you would want to, so keep thinking what you will it doesnt matter to me, im done

golf is a brutal game. guys spend their entire life doing it every minute now from a young age only to realize they are not getting better, in fact, they are getting worse

look at Jordan speith etc. getting worse

for the guys that never become truly great / win / its a brutal reality for them. Imagine doing something for 7 hours a day for 20 years only to realize you are getting worse at it for no apparent reason and that you will never get better.

that's kinda how the cookie crumbles for 99.99% of people though, right? Perhaps why your joy should come from within/from God and not through how others value you.

agreed. but the types of people that come up in golf now are literal robots (due to junior golf and how its structured) look at morikawa, cantlay, xander etc. just emotionless robotic drones since all they know its golf golf golf. when that starts to struggle or they realize they wont be truly great and just an average tour player, many cannot take it.

tiger woods is mentally broke from all the practice too. only recently has he mellowed out a bit

Yeah I never could stand Tiger Woods but lately he seems more human, more genuine, more humbled. I think it’s an improvement for his character.

He has tons of money anyway he should just gracefully retire and focus on his kids and some business venture like his clothing line for something to do.

Many people see children as their extensions to serve their own grandiosity. It’s sickening really.

They are also physically broken from years of pushing their bodies. Even golfers. Tiger has had something like six back surgeries, knee surgeries, etc and all before the age of forty. So suddenly you also get addicted to pain pills and other things and you're living in pain every day or so doped up you can barely function.

Add in any other traumatic life event (like maybe his fiance banging another man) and suddenly it's not surprising that these guys go off the rails.

Just checked out his fiance and she's definitely way hotter than he could have landed if he wasn't a pro golfer. Possibly she got fed up with the idea he was never going to be top tier and left him.

Not commenting on any particular person but sometimes narcissists literally can not deal with their false image being destroyed and their true selves being exposed and can trigger suicide.

"When narcissistic mortification is experienced for the first time, it may be defined as a sudden loss of control over external or internal reality, or both. This produces strong emotions of terror while at the same time narcissistic libido (also known as ego-libido) or destrudo is built up.[2] Narcissistic libido or ego-libido is the concentration of libido on the self. Destrudo is the opposite of libido and is the impulse to destroy oneself and everything associated with oneself."

I think there are two fundamental reasons for suicide, but only 1 ever really gets talked about.

That reason is the hopelessness/depression angle. I think this is certainly the case a lot of the time, especially for those in truely hopeless and desperate situations.

But what seldom gets talked about is that suicide is fundamentally an act of 'aggression', and deeply hurts and damages the people closest to that person.

I think where the rich and successful are concerned, we ought to give more credence to the aggression angle, and perhaps why they did what they did was in large part about hurting others.

It's a far uglier explanation for suicide though so I can see why it's seldom entertained. It doesn't make for good headlines or fond memorys of the person if you bring up that their reasons for killing themselves may have been in-part borne out vindictiveness.

I experienced that through a telepathic bond to my ex. I felt him descending into hell from loss of false ego stability. I did not know there is a word for it but I experienced it through him and it is literal hell.

I didn’t think narcissists ever commit suicide though. Their ego is too big for it. Even when their false ego is destroyed they will build up another false ego to survive.
