"“Faculty members with firsthand knowledge of the admissions process say it has prioritized diversity over merit, resulting in progressively less qualified classes that are now struggling to succeed.”
“One professor said that a student in the operating room could not identify a major artery when asked, then berated the professor for putting her on the spot. Another said that students at the end of their clinical rotations don't know basic lab tests and, in some cases, are unable to present patients.”
Up to half of UCLA medical students now fail basic tests of medical competence. Whistleblowers say affirmative action, illegal in California since 1996, is to blame.

honestly, all of this diversity **** is unconstitutional and discriminatory, when you look at it
someone should take this to the Supreme Court to put an end to this diversity hiring/admissions etc once and for all.
it is racial discrimination (for people being denied because they don't fit the diversity profile) by definition of the law.Ave Christus Rex

From the article it sounds like half admitted since 2020 are either going to drop out or take an extra 1-2 years to get to even apply for residency. That's expensive failure. And it sounds like it isn't just the radicalized acceptance process, but the school's focus on social justice classes for the med students leading them to fail.
BRB, accept people who shouldn't be accepted, then have all taking social justice classes that distract from their learning the basics.Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

Many years back I taught an advanced logic programming class at ITT Tech. Only did it for a single semester because ITT Tech had some shady AF business practices (which they now are permanently closed). This course required basic level mathematics. One of my students didn't even understand the concept of exponents after four YEARS of other instruction related to electronics design. IE: 2^2, 2^3, etc.
What's worse, is that the course I taught was one of the last courses the students required to graduate.

They already did. The SC ruled against the use of race in college admissions in July of last year.
California's UC system responded by immediately changing their admissions process to purposefully start admitting more students from high schools with high black and hispanic populations (so they can keep favoring them but have plausible deniability).
Everyone knows what they're doing but they aren't gonna stop

The admissions Dean is unhinged if these stories are true. However, their overall admission stats are still exceptionally high. I would like to see the stats of their DEI admits. I can believe that they would be much lower than average UCLA matriculants, however, It’s hard for me to believe that they would be much lower than an average medical school matriculant.
The admissions Dean needs to be fired though. Amazing how she tried to manipulate the Anesthesiology residency match process. It’s one thing to accept subpar applicants for medical school and watch them struggle and fail out/ be relegated to primary care. Whole another thing when you press a residency program to accept subpar applicants where there are very real implications if they are incompetent. Especially in anesthesia where you’re literally keeping the patient alive during their surgery and have to bat 1.00.

Dont worry, brah, East Asian males, including Indian, mog White males a good amount of times in admissions. Good doctor varies on a lot of variables that vary across specialties. You would know best that I am sure.
His point is a bit mute given that the choice is a single doctor so naturally the selection dataset will have a lot more white males so higher chance.
However, given general admissions statistics, the gap between White Male + Asian male versus others is simply... lmao
Allocating spots to account for gender and race means naturally the male + White and male + Asian will have a higher competition ratio.communist until you get rich
