Making a burger is literally just ground beef. But every single place all taste "different" Even the fries too
Obviously it has somewhat to do with seasoning and spices, but what else makes it taste so different?

the preservatives, the additives they put in the food (different sodiums and sugars) to mask the bad flavors from how much processing the food goes through. Some burger places I believe they also use really fatty ground beef (5 Guys) and other places use that really lean "pink slime" like McDonard's.

Fat ratio in ground beef (80/20, 70/30, etc)
Seasonings
Preservatives
Bun (white, wheat, potato, sesame, brioche, etc)
Topping quality and prep (shredded lettuce vs leaf, diced or grilled onions vs sliced, etc.)
Most cafe/diner burgers all have a similar taste and you can achieve it at home just as easily. Normally vegetable spread on a white bun toasted on a griddle, 70/30 beef cooked medium, etc. with either American cheese or sliced cheddar is hard to fukk up and commonly served across the states.
