This is why social media/the internet is bad because you are always seeing BALLERS showing off their luxury crap and people think that's what everyone's else's expectation or level is on. The reality is that most people are doing it tough with little to no change in social class for most of their lives. If you are working a job and keeping a roof over your head, have food to eat and are protecting your loved ones then you should be proud and ignore the noise where people are telling you that you aren't sh*t.

I agree with this. I’ll add something on the other end though, many people underreport income. It’s somewhere above what you see in the figures, and below what social media shows you.

My numbers range incorporate whites though. Medium household income for whites is like $81k. That's two adults making $40k/yr.


And I'm not married so its not really fair to put me in that equation, but if I were married to a woman making the same it'd be $110k household income.

2) Only 46 percent of Americans have a full-time or part time job.

3) Most people live at the absolute maximum of their income, or even beyond it. The savings rate in the US was under 4% last month.

Now I'm at 425k but don't feel rich. Why? It's because I live in Socal and cost of living is insane. For me to get a house I'd be 100% content with I have to pay $1.5 million minimum in my area. If this were 10-15 years ago I'd have the dream house with a swimming pool. More difficult now.

Life is still great, but the value of a dollar really depends on where you live.
