I see where Hertz is selling 1-2 year old model 3s for about $25k. I see where you can get a brand new model Y for $37k with 0.99% financing.
Has the bottom fallen out of the electric car market? Or has other brands offering electric now made Teslas just another car now?

In part due to supply meeting demand, other companies coming out with their own EVs, and Tesla cutting their own prices to compete.
I suspect prices will go up on Teslas in the coming years because I think the recent price cuts from Tesla have been geared to drive out competition. Could be wrong though.

For the same reason when crack c0ca|ne first hit the streets it was dirt cheap: they need to get people dependent on it.
Once about 60% of the population is dependent on EVs, you can expect local power grids to routinely have mandated blackouts to "fight climate change".....
A man would have to be a fool to give up his ICE vehicles.Everything I post is satire.

I have both and I have ICE vehicles that will actually go up in value that I will never get rid of (exotics and classics)
However for daily driving.....EV hands down. When my EV was in the shop getting some paint work done.....and I drove my wife's ICE vehicle.....i literally felt like I was in a dinosaur. Night and day difference in the overall experience for a daily driver.

The higher interest rates are definitely taking a bite out of car sales
Tesla in particular has a very limited model range they pump out in huge numbers, so that means downward pricing pressure for new vehicles and then used when the numbers start turning over
Hertz is unloading a whack of Teslas they had bought during COVID because the repair costs and depreciation (after the price cuts) have annihilated their finances

During COVID, the gov was offerring $100 if you got vaxxed and another $50 if you got your booster.
Whenever the government offers you incentives to do something, it isn't because it's in your best interest.
If the gov is pushing hard for EVs, that alone should be enough to give you pause.Everything I post is satire.

Tesla has by far the best margins in the industry, what Musk is doing is dropping prices again and again, and again, this kills competition, and increases adoption, because he needs as many Teslas on the road as possible for the purposes of self driving and data collection, as well as super charging networks and other project he has in mind like Robo taxis.
Remember, self driving is going to become a must, as insurance companies realize that a computer drives better than a drunk human teenager, what that means is that everyone will have to buy self driving or they will not be able to afford car insurance, remember, even if you buy a different brand of car, gasoline, or electric, you’re still going to be using a Tesla self driving, and you’re going to pay a subscription price for that, even if it’s going to be offered for free, you’re still going to pay for it since it’s going to be included in the price of your vehicle. So Musk can basically give away cars for free because he’s going to be making money every month from each car forever.
It’s also important to remember that gasoline carmakers are advertising on TV, so naturally you’re going to hear negative news about Tesla from mainstream media, they are liars.

Not a concern, as soon as the incentive ended, Musk simply offered the incentive himself that same day when people buy the car. It’s actually better, this way you’re actually getting money on the spot, instead of having to file your taxes and fill out forms that you bought an electric car and so on.

Have you driven a model Y or any Tesla?
the basic auto pilot is really good. My FSD version 12 is mind-blowingly good. I drive 3 hours from one city to another and through rush hour traffic while barely touching the steering wheel
You dont turn the car on or off. Dont lock or unlock. Instant torque. Acceleration is great for that price. Great handling
You can get a 7 seat option
Software function and creature comforts like charging just work.
NOthing in the price range comes close for a car to get you comfortably from point A to B.

The big differentiator on the other brands is the chit software. The FSD software from Tesla is the goal. They just had to make cars to get the data. If they had their way from the beginning, they would have loved for the legacy automakers to make a good EV and they would just handle the autonomous driving softare. But legacy auto is terrible so they had to make the cars themselves

Straightline acceleration =/fun IMO.
Exhaust & 6 Speed manual in a slower car is fun. The gears, the exhaust, the rev matching. Nascar, NHRA, Indy were all founded because of those principles. And with technology these days you can have comfort & fun factor. Just grab a M5 Competition.
Hell I'd have way more fun on a slow Harley than a Tesla Plaid.
