I think he mostly got lucky with the youtube thing. Most people didn't know he was a scientologist when braille started to get popular. He supposedly has paid for over 1 million dollars worth of scientology courses or something.

I assume it is good for connections.
The more money a person makes, the more the church makes
Maybe someone high up or with power at Google could push his YT videos
Or maybe someone at a magazine (it the past) helps out with ads or someone in purchasing at a big company buys those boards over a non scientologist

That could be the case. When these channels get really popular it never seems to happen organically.
