What car has a smooth ride similar to a Lexus ES 350?

I used to own a 2010 ES 350 with special tires for a smooth ride. I remember I would frequently go past 100mph and it was like driving on clouds.

My favorite car from a looks standpoint is an Audi S5, but I test drove that vehicle and it was a much rougher ride at high speeds. Didnt strike me as a luxury car.

If I wanted the ES 350 ride in a more sporty looking body, what car would that be?

Seems like looking for that Lexus ES 350 smooth ride but in a sportier package is a cool quest. The Audi S5 is sharp, but I get why its ride might not match the Lexus for you. Have you considered the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe? It offers a blend of luxury and sportiness with a ride that's often praised for its comfort. If lighting upgrades are on your mind for whatever car you choose, Auxbeam customer service can help make sure you're well-lit on your cloud-like cruises.

Since you like the Audi S5 but want a softer smoother ride, it sounds like the Audi A5 might be exactly the car you want. The S5 is the performance tuned version of the A5 so it is intentionally going to sacrifice some of the comfort aspects. The A5 will give you that smoother, softer ride that you are looking for with the looks that you love, and it is significantly less expensive than the S5.

Another thing to consider is your ES was probably on 17s and the S5 probably on 19s, wheel size makes a significant difference on ride quality. If you put 19s on the ES you would feel significantly more than you did on the 17s.

Is an A8 in your budget? I know it's a big car, but it's an incredibly comfy chassis. Plenty of room too, I occasionally get issues from my sciatica, but I had no issues during test drives in those cars. Plenty of room, even at 6'4" 250lbs. For an economical version, try to find one with the 3.0T. Great fuel economy but still provides good response and power.

Agreed on all points. A lot of people don't know that a larger wheel/ reduced sidewall make a huge difference, not just the suspension.

The S5 is a sport model, it will definitely ride a good amount harsher than a base A5.

I rode in my coworker's base 3 series, very comfy, in comparison my M3 to some people feels like it's going to compress their spine, even though it's perfectly fine for me, esp with the suspension in comfort mode (I HATE driving floaty boats though)

Isn't the ES front wheel drive and based on the Camry platform?

The GS is a rear driver.

Used to have an A6 that was an incredibly good ride, but you could still punch the gas pretty good too.

A punchy comfortable car with a great ride is also a panamera, not sure if that is in your budget or not.

Huh, I don't even remember making this thread this year but it's a valid question..

Nowadays the way I see it, I could get a used Lexus ES 350 for $20k and less than 40k miles, don't see the point of spending $50-70k for an Audi.

That being said - recently I found the BMW M440I xdrive Gran Coupe, and it looks quite a bit better than the Audi.. never driven it though.

One thing I don't like about the Lexus is that it's rear seats don't fold down. Last time I had one, it was a pain in the ass putting my bike in there.

just get a new lexus ES. Just don't get the fsport packages that come with larger rims and low profile tires. Same for any LS Lexus or S Class mercedes. The full size sedans usually step up to a air ride suspension

Thicker sidewall tires provides the comfort.

Why get a new one? New would be like $50-60k, whereas one from 2013-2016 with maybe 30-40k miles I could get for $20-25k.

It's not that I can't afford new, I just don't see the value. New = more technology, more problems

2016-2018 is the redesign. 2013-2015 different front end and few things changed out interior and head unit

Fun fact - 2015 is the last year the ES was made in Japan.
