I’m 33, clean diet, sub 12% body fat, run 8 miles a week, lift 5 days a week, take vitamins and stay hydrated etc.
My back is constantly sore, especially my lower back, my legs are stiff even though I try to stretch at least twice a day, I still can’t lock my knees out and touch my fingers to the ground without immense pain in my hamstrings and back.
When I wake up in the morning my back is so stiff I can’t even put on my underwear without struggling to bend over and lift my leg up. This chit is ridiculous and has been a problem for me since in was 18.
I feel like what I imagine my grandfather feels like at 87.

You gotta stretch. As you get older you will get stiffer so you need to stretch a lot. Take up yoga.

I’ve wondered. I am definitely a stomach sleeper. Even when I fall asleep on my back I wake up on my stomach.
I’ve considered paying for an expensive adjustable bed but tbh I’ve slept in a ton of different beds over the years and have never woke up feeling my age. So I’m kind of hesitant to fork out the money for something that might not do chit for meLTC crew, Superbike crew, BMW crew, M Performance crew, Mountain bike crew, Firearms crew

No one should ever lift more than four days per week, under any circumstances, unless you are a steroid using professional bodybuilder,
You need to take out running, at least for now. 8 miles is also too much. Great Running shoes will matter. Some people are not built for running or squatting or deadlifting.
Sleep on your side only, make sure mattress is on the stiff side but not too much.
No squats, deads or leg press for now. Very little if any later on. There are other ways to have good legs. No need to fuk up your back in the long term.
If the above fails to solve this, go to Physical Therapy.

My lower back is fukked right now and I have no idea why. Woke up Saturday and could barely walk and it hasn't gotten any better. I'm going to have to miss work today. Trying to get an orthopedic on the phone now

There is nothing excessive about your training pattern unless you are using weights like a ****g00t.
Assuming weights are light and have proper form, then you have two options
1- Your lower back is fuked and you have a herniated disc which causes morning stiffness and the other symptoms you have described. Check with a doctor as surgery might be required if you are expecting to wake up like an 18 years old.
2- Your lower back is fine, then there is something wrong with the bed, mattress and pillow that you use. Hire a professional to do a revamp and go all in on an excellent tier bed.
Good luck either way.
Edit: You can dial back to 4 sessions per week mainly because past 30 your hardly get much results from a lot of training unless your genetics permits you to.Last edited by Lexira; 04-29-2024 at 06:19 AM.

i would say get fitted at the best running shoe store in your area for proper shoes.
then as mentioned a full body stretching routine
then get the kidneys checkedThere is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

I think everyone can understand that at a certain point, exercise is bad for you rather than good for you. I don't think anyone thinks Rich Piana or Ronnie Coleman is healthy.
Those examples may be extremes but even in your moderate case, lifting is probably bad for you.
That being said, I'm not saying to not lift, just that there are trade offs.

Straight quotes from Lyle McDonald, you know absolutely nothing compared to him, you are the peon, he pees on people like you, take everything that you know, and realize that it’s so insignificant, start learning. Good luck.
Edit, just looked through the thread and plenty of posters are saying exactly the same thing as I did, but because you are ideologically dug in in whatever stupid crap that you think you know, you decided to single me out lol
