Glad I was the first member here to talk about the PS5 Pro.

Insider Gaming can confirm that the documentation leaked is from a PlayStation developer portal, which was sent out this week to a wider band of third-party developers.

Today’s leaked documents also confirmed:

Rendering 45% faster than PS5

2-3x Ray-tracing (x4 in some cases)

33.5 Teraflops

PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) upscaling/antialiasing solution

Custom machine learning architecture

AI Accelerator, supporting 300 TOPS of 8 bit computation / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point

Devkits have been available to first-party studios since September 2023, third-party since January 2024, and from Spring 2024 Testkits will also be available which will be identical to the final product.

Insider Gaming understands that the PS5 Pro is currently aiming for a tentative holiday 2024 release, but the date could be changed due to the lack of first-party games released on the PlayStation 5 this year.

PS5 pro is just a rumor, there has been no confirmation of one in any way and I highly doubt it's happening. There will only be a slim version that I think will be inferior. I think the pro is being skipped and the PS6 will launch in 2028.

The problem there is how Sony has starting talking like this is (somehow) already the middle or so of the console generation, so pushing out a Pro revision just sets it closer to the PS6. That still is not a guarantee that there will be enough first-party games to justify the Pro, and if that turns out to be the case, you might as well just roll your eyes and wait for the PS6 seeing as how it takes most of a console generation to get one game out of a studio these days.

Another consideration is that the longer they hold off on releasing the Pro, the more outdated it technically gets, so they might as well just release it as soon as it's ready because it's not like they're going to suddenly upgrade X, Y, and/or Z over several months (and if they could, nothing to a substantial enough degree to justify it).

If they really are that worried about a lack of first party games... throw in some native PS1/PS2/PS3 emulation and they'd be back on top. It's not like they're consistently delivering the same level of quality anyways, so that would be a lot cheaper than drawing classics out of a hat and having to remaster each and every one to Jim Ryan stanards.

It's a bit of a shame how the PS3 felt like this mini revolution towards an accessible, relatively inexpensive all-in-one device with a browser to the same old schit plastic boxes. Like it would have been pretty cool if consoles shifted towards being like the living room equivalent to the iphone/android smartphone because on a technical level, they're nothing more than PCs with down's syndrome.
