I have never used a Kydex IWB but I need one for a backpack set up actually. For a Hellcat with optic.

Is a Kydex a Kydex or are some really that much better then others?

Ideally I would want the gun to click in the holster and click out if that makes sense. The gun will be secured in the holster in a backpack so I want it to stay in the holster and not be able to fall out.

I only have limited experience with kydex. I use a Harry's Holster singleton for IWB and I couldn't see it coming out on accident - I think all kydex holsters are designed that way. For backpacking carry I use a Hill People Gear kit bag and really like it.

idk much about thermal so correct me if I'm thinking wrong, but looks like 640 base mag is 2x, and 384 is 3x. If both could be digital zoomed to 6x actual (3x vs 2x base) it's 213 vs 192. Not sure that's a $3400 vs $2400 difference.

Daytime I carry a Shield Plus in a sidecar holster so I have 28rds on me. Family is with me during the day and most of the craziest **** (mass shootings, etc) are during the day. I'm also usually wearing pants and can wear a belt.

At night I carry my LCP Max. I'm usually by myself and I don't imagine needing more than 13rds for whatever goes down at Taco Bell or my gym. And I can easily carry it in basketball shorts.
