For the unaware, this is the guy that's been proven right with his leaks concerning Tsushima. Still take it with a grain of salt but I'm bummed about the idea of multiple remakes instead of taking risks with exciting new IPs. I say this while playing a Remake right now, lol.
What a boring gen this is turning into.

Yes, it's my fave franchise. I'm playing a Remake right now, and then another with Rebirth after. What else is there to play? I'm not making the argument that remasters are bad, just that a console should have more stuff too, like new games for instance. I know you can't process the scope of my post so just thought I'd break it down like I'm talking to monkey with brain cancer. Cheers.

we should distinguish between remasters and remakes though
while remasters often only offer some QOL improvements and convenience to play on current hardware remakes often end up being absolute gems
like RE4, Link's Awakening, THPS 1+2, Crash Trilogy, ...
these are some of my favorite games of all time+++ miscin' at work crew +++

played the originals back in the day
but there are remakes where I never played the OG and also blew me away, like Mafia
or where the remake of childhood favorites are pretty meh like the GTA trilogy
so it's not only nostalgia, a remake can be amazing
with a remaster you sorta know what you're getting tbh+++ miscin' at work crew +++

When the games targeted are genuinely decades old or hard / impossible to play on modern consoles, I don't mind the remaster / remake situation. Super Mario RPG or Resident Evil 4, for example, are two great examples of games that had massive changes whether in cosmetics or added content that make them worth paying full price. Meanwhile, you get games like Last of Us or GTA V which get remade for each generation, and it's not necessary.

I don't hate remakes. If I got 30 remakes for the year, I would be completely fine with it if they also brought out 30 new games as well.
If someone mentions a PS4, you immediately think about Bloodborne guy, Spiderman, Aloy, Nathan Drake, Jin, Ellie and Joel, Cloud etc.
We are in the "latter stages" of the PS5 already, which character do you associate with this gen of Playstation? Only thing I can think of is the grandma from Returnal.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Dragon's Dogma can't run on console so if i ever get that it will be on PC. Ronin, I'm on the fence about but it has potential. Elden Ring I'm def excited about but it's not a new game.
Either way, these aren't Sony games. I bought the console to get chit from their first party studios. That's why I'm mad the console is dry of their games in 2023 and 2024.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Well, hopefully they're PS3 games with some of the remaining PS4 titles because they stopped being interesting.
Hell yes.
I've said it before, Sony could have just brought back these two alone (plus several other IPs they have) and had success with multiplayer.
I guarantee you that zero zoomer oriented Resistance and Killzone combo would make bank just by virtue of being straight faced shooters with no pastels, neon colors, or tiktok garbage polluting every other mainstream shooter, including Sony's new rival Call of Duty.
That alone is probably why Helldivers 2 is such a hit; the game is targeting the rest of the market who doesn't want all of this watered down fortnite crap.
If early indications are anything to go by, Sony's live service games were just following the trend of what's popular in a locked in market that is provably over capacity. All they'd have to do is put out regular old shooter like Socom alongside a Killzone and Resistance for the sci fi lean to lock in the rest of the market that has been left behind due to all of the trend chasing.
What makes it extra shítty is how many games that aren't even that old are locked behind streaming only in their most expensive PS+ tier because "screw backwards compatibility," even though those streamed games are still being emulated, just on Sony's backend.
Although some could either use extra polish or deserve such treatment, they could really use some humbling and cut the perceived need to go full retard on remastering/remaking every game when some would hold up just fine with much less intensive and demanding work.
I know it won't likely ever happen, but it would be nice to see some remakes that tackle improving games that were flawed and have room for improvement that could see new life. The trouble is that they would be more likely to ignore gameplay flaws and just focus on throwing rainbow posters in the background.
Hey now! There's Soy Milk Kratos, the 3D furry girl, and Mary Jane's chin.
Sony themselves are acting like they're in some halfway point through this generation with laughably little to show for it. They're unwilling to take risks to the point where they're more invested in porting over proven successes to PC for even more sales on the same games than venture out on anything new (or even just bringing back old IPs that would be new to a new generation).
I still have my doubts on how efficient that strategy even is instead of designing the games with port compatibility in mind from the onset instead of stumbling around as soon as the bean counters give the clear for the PC release.
Games like the Last of Us port hurt their reputation on quality control a bit which isn't a complete loss, however they're also placed in this awkward marketing position where it would be too costly to re-market their games so far out from the original release date. I can't count the number of PS games on PC that I either never knew were already out or just kind of figured they already were but didn't even care enough to check because, again, they've been so risk averse that their recent games have been blurring together from a casual observer standpoint. They're all just the same things I remember being on PS4 just remastered, but hell if I know which if you were to ask me today.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die
If you have any problems or need advice, feel free to ask

^^ yeah wouldn't mind some remakes you guys mentioned, especially some cool PS3 stuff which is incompatible and unplayable by the newer consoles today. Provided they can maintain the grit and atmosphere of the original without altering certain parts to align with gamers today. They already did that just with FF7 remake, where on the release of Rebirth they sent out a patch to remake. There's a cutscene where Tifa was like 15 or 15 and she has on this outfit. It's not even bad and you can't see anything revealing but they decided to cover her up even more. They even changed at least one line of dialog in another scene that I know of. Smh.
Anyways it's a sad state to scroll online and see many people making fun of the console calling it the Remasterstation 5, or folks ironically saying they can't wait to buy a PS5 pro for ND's new release TLOU part 1 remaster remix enhanced edition lol. On the surface, remakes of old games aren't bad, but the console needs new IPs of its own where when someone mentions the PS5 you can close your eyes and immediately think of the unique franchises and characters that define it.
In the so-called latter stages of it's life, that simply doesn't yet exist.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Remakes don't have to be a bad thing but when you aren't really putting out much other chit, it seems obnoxious.
As someone who doesn't do nostalgia gaming I could give a chit less about these remakes. I have a PC so I can generally still go boot up a 10 year old game and play it. Console users just being cucked completely, being resold games they've already purchased, after the console companies who sold the game made it unplayable across different generations. Somewhat unreal people buy into this dogchit but hey, console plebs got us here in the first place.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces
