We are moving to a larger house next month so I am adding a plate loaded Hammer Strength Isolateral Row machine (already acquired), a Rogue lifting platform (already acquired), and a leg press (to be acquired).
I am only looking at Commerical gym quality stuff as I don't want any ****ty rickety home gym garbage.
These are the two frontrunners...both are linear bearing (as opposed to a sled on rollers)
This is basically a LifeFitness Signature Series but unbranded.
This one APPEARS to be a Precor Icarian (or at least knockoff). I flat out asked them if it was and they said no, but it really looks identical. They have their name on it.
What do you guys think?
The LF one is about $500 more....and neither are cheap.

Only issue I have with the second one is they will not assemble it to let me try it out.
So if it is a cheap knockoff instead of the real thing I won't know it until it's too late.
The first one the guy had one all assembled in his warehouse and I went by and tried it out. Definitely commercial gym quality and smooth as butter. It was obviously the LF unit without the branding.
I am wary of buying something that the seller won't let me take for a test drive, even if it's a bit of a PITA for them to set it up.Insta: flexjs

I also considered the Bells of Steel combo Hack Squat/Leg Press but they also do not have one set up for a test drive. Seriously wtf?
The most expensive option is looking like the best one. The Life Fitness one.
We move on the 19th of January.
If anyone has recommendations I'm open to them.Insta: flexjs

Out of curiosity, did you try other cheaper options like ones below under CAD $1000?
gearforfit for $890+hst
i am also looking for Leg press/hack squat machine & personally tried this gearforfit which I like it but only downside is it measures 85" Length and I ve a limited space in my Garage
I also spoke to goldenfitness (unable to share the link) which is $975 with smaller/compact dimensions
of course above has no display stock for me to try so I am kinda hesitating.

For such a simple machine I find the variation between leg presses and individuals to be very very high. I wouldn't consider a leg press unless you'd tried that particular model or identical before. Nebula and old school Body Masters are my personal targets. Many other commercial and high end reputable models I wouldn't even bother owning - not because they suck or are inferior in any way but merely because they don't come close to working as well for me as those mentioned. Basically substitute products are real hard for leg presses. One man's amazing is another man's meh.

We are moving on the 19th.
I am very strongly leaning towards getting the unbranded LifeFitness one, even though it's more expensive.
Mrs Flex has been dealing with back issues and wants to ease into lifting again and she said she'd prefer to do leg press over squats, so I think I'll just spend the money and get one that I know is good quality.
I'm going to reach out to the guy and see if he still has one. Last time we spoke he had 2. If I miss out he wont have more until April.Insta: flexjs

This is the way. Buy once, cry once. Get something you KNOW works and will do what you need. Maybe a professional or hobbyist equipment flipper will be different but for regular folk who have a decent training history, know what works, and want to simply get it in and train this is a lot more efficient and less pain in the end. I'm fine with paying up for good equipment or convenient logistics.

We're moving to the new house in less than 2 weeks.
I messaged the guy with the LF unit last night and now he wants $500 more for it. Like wtf? It's the same one he had when we talked 2 months ago. Pissed me off. I told him I'd pay the original price or nothing. FML.Insta: flexjs

Late to the party, but the Icarian clone looks almost identical to the Signature Fitness leg press I just picked up for $999 from Walmart under the BalanceFrom brand. The only difference I am seeing is some of the tubing bends on the Signature Fitness are angled whereas the ones in your picture are curved. Otherwise, looking at manuals, it seems like the same assembly and construction, down to the rubber "Fitness" pad on the footplate.

Looks like you got a great machine for a great price.
I'm going to go look at a similar one tomorrow.
I can't believe this wanker has been sitting on this unit for months and suddenly he wants $500 more for it. I really wanted it but phukk him.Insta: flexjs

Here's the one I am going to look at tomorrow.
Does anyone know what brand this is? Seller says he doesn't know. I asked him where he got it and he said "a friend gave it to me" WTF?
He sent me a video and it appears to have linear bearings as opposed to rollers, which is good. It also looks compact.

These guys gave me a deal on this one (no tax) so I am picking it up next Saturday after we move to the new house next Friday.
So $2,100 no tax versus $3,390 for the LF one with tax.
Might take me a week or so to get the new gym set up because I need to acquire additional flooring and I don't know how much yet, but I will post pics once it is all set up.

We got it set up yesterday.
Absolutely no assembly instructions available. Huge WTF, but we got it figured out.
Also my new home gym is 99% complete.
