And get the Samsung S89C 77 inch instead at $1999. Turns out the US version of the S89C is a QD-OLED and very close to the S90C in terms of performance.
Question is whether I'll get the 5 year burn-in coverage or not.

So despite how the thread title might sound let me make it clear that I'm not returning the QM8 because I'm actually dissatisfied with its performance or quality, I still think it's a great TV for the price.
It had been previously erroneously reported that the S89C was an OLED instead of a QD-OLED but now that it's been shown that it's a QD-OLED the price is, imo, excellent for the size.
It's weird that the S90C exists with the S89C being so close in overall performance.
The S89C still hits 144hz at 4k, same brightness in HDR/SDR, same motion processing, same chassis, same gaming performance, same pretty much everything except a different stand and it's $500 cheaper currently.

Ya'll hating on TCL and Hisense at this point are stupid. Yes, they keep falling short in one area or another when compared to the big dogs but dismissing them like they are Westinghouse or something is just stupid. They are consistently winning Best Value TV awards now. Honda and Toyota were once laughed at. Not all budget brands remain trash.
They buy the Sammy panels and use better software and picture processing with them. A Sony QD-OLED is a better Sammy QD-OLED. I think the only benefit of going Sammy is if you need a bunch of 2.1 HDMI ports because Sony still only does 2.12-5-23

I think its the QC that they need to address, as is the case with all mass produced Chyna brands. Poverty panel uniformity, glitchy, poorly thought out user interface, sketchy customer service. Just makes no sense when you could just save a bit longer and get an equally good panel which costs more but comes with that peace of mind that you're in safe hands, and the user community is much bigger too. If you have a question there's guaranteed to be a forum or subreddit for LG OLEDs for example.

Fools, the lot of you. None of you have been going into the trenches like I have and actually bought and tried out these TVs.
TCL and Hisense are what Sony and Samsung used to be. Haven’t y’all picked up the business model these asians use? Remember when KIA and Hyundai were complete garbage but now are relatively decent cars for good money? Similar to what Toyota and Honda did?
I don’t give a fukk about the brand in terms of fashionable products to own if the performance is there for the price.
I would have kept the TCL if the S89C wasn’t such a good deal imo.
