"Follow your passion"
"Just be yourself"
None of those actually work in the real world

Not advice I've been directly given but I hate when people say chit like
"Who cares what you look like"
Well literally everyone does, I'm not some stereotype miscer who obseses over looks like jawline etc but I acknowledge appearance is an important part of life and can't stand when delusional copers downplay it

"you're over-thinking"
...and according to which an ensign might rank incomparably higher than a general, and according to which what was needed for success in the service was not effort or work, or courage, or perseverance, but only the knowledge of how to get on with those who can grant rewards, and he was himself often surprised at the rapidity of his success, and at the inability of others to understand these things

"Talk to people about it when you have issues with depression. Open up about it."
Just lol at that absolute nonsense. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that talking about your feelings in general as a man is a bad idea. All it does is make other people view you as weak and drive them away from you. Don't for a moment think it's any better talking to close friends and relatives about it either, because it will drive them away faster than you'd think too. People want to be around fun happy people all the time, not to listen to you complain about your problems.

I would say there should be a FEW people you can actually talk to those things about. And those people are extremely important. You also need to be a good time and fun to be around true. But ideally close people you should be able to talk about those things with.
Also there is a difference between confronting problems and issues and actually doing something about it versus whining and doing nothing.

"Do the deadlifts"
“Sometimes when I'm faced with an atheist, I am tempted to invite him to the greatest gourmet dinner that one could ever serve, and when we have finished eating that magnificent dinner, to ask him if he believes there's a cook.”
― Ronald Reagan
† Acts 4:12 †
There's salvation only in Christ
† II Corinthians 12:7-10 †
Suffering humbles us, it's truly a bless in disguise
