Thinkin i might pick up a smartwatch.
I want to think i'd use it to set up reminders, manage my calendars better and see who's calling when i cant answer (like wen i'm in a meeting for example)
Watcha think misc? Do you find it useful or just an expensive style statement?
Lookin at samsung to match my fone

I won one at a tech conference so decided to try it out. I heard it defined a Laser is the greatest solution to a problem that you don’t have. Well same goes for a smart watch. It doesn’t do as much as your smart phone. You kind of need to have your smart phone next to it to really get any use from it. And the battery life sucks so you have to charge it all the time. Would you wear a watch you had to wind every day? It just becomes “something else you have to do”, i was just too busy for one. More toy. So i tried it for about a month or two then threw it in a drawer.

My work phone sits in my desk drawer the moment I shut my computer down on Friday and only check my emails 2-3 times a day to limit distractions.
I screen my work calls so they are easier to schedule and put into a time block as part of my calendar and check my calendar once in the morning to prioritize workflow and once before leaving work to set appointments and reschedule.
Can't imagine wanting to be easier to be more contacted.

i see im gonna be the one to have to this break this down.yes smart watches are worth it.this isnt rocket science. number 1 problem with them is the battery sucks.really sucks.you have to optimize them and turn a bunch of crap off to get any type of decent battery wear.2nd worst part is probably configuring and syncing it to your phone.it a big pain in the ass.im not even gonna go there.
But the pros outweigh the cons.its so much easier to monitor your health.checks cals, blood oygen, steps,bp etc.who wants to take their phone out every 5 or 10 minutes to check everything and risk dropping it while your running.
plus why take your phone when running when you can just sync your headphones to your watch if you just wanna listen to music or answer calls.you wanna put your phone on the nasty gym floor or leave it in your pocket while you work out?could leave it in your bag i guess.
theres just a lot you can do.would i take a smart watch over a rolex?hell no but who the hell buys a rolex submariner for diving except professionals and rich people? status.
at the end of the day ive got the original galaxy classic and the galaxy 3 classic.the original has good battery and almost as fast as the 3.the 3 battery sucks is faster and has a nice steel band that makes it look like a high end watch.and my favorite feature is the find my phone feature cauase i lose it a lot.whatever.and if youve got a custom watch face and band that goes with your clothes biches will be myron.thats my take

Get a Garmin Fenix 7. 18+ days of battery life.
You get messages, calendar, calls and all notifications you'd like.
It's a health monitoring device on your wrist with some of the best current tech for monitoring sleep, heart, stress and so on. It just happens to have some smart features. It's the KISS version of a smart watch.

ive heard good things about Garmin.but 18 days without charge?i dont believe it unless you arent using it then maybe.if you got a galxy phone it might be better to get a galaxy watch but i dont think you can go wrong with either but those apple watches are ugly.you cant put a nice band on and think its anything other than an apple watch

I have gone on business trips that'll last almost a week without checking my battery before going, multiple times. And I don't pack the charger cable for the watch.

I have an Apple Watch 4 , old obviously . Battery life is absolute chit , but I’m kind of curious about the Apple Watch Ultra ,as the claims are 3 days . If I get 24 real hours, I’d be happy AF , so I may buy it .
I have A-fib,so it’s nice in my situation to monitor my heart . I also pay 10 bucks additional on my cell plan to have cellular on my watch , as it comes in handy on occasion.
I can access my house alarm from my watch because it has cellular capability, which allows me to disarm and arm it via the watch .
I like it for redundancy basicallyMake Misc great again

I have been using heart rate monitors for about the last 20 years.
A good smartwatch is a fitness essential. If you want to ask me a question:

I have had a Garmin Instinct for just over a year now. I love it for the body/sleep analytics it provides and its nice that I get phone notifications on my wrist so I don't have to be by my phone. Its not really a "smart watch" per-se It just ties in with bluetooth to deliver notifications.

I love my Apple Watch not for the ability to receive messages, make calls, etc.
I love it for cardio. Instead of targeting a certain setting on the treadmill or whatever I target certain heart rates. Adjust the treadmill to hit the heart rate I want. I love it.Entire NYPD should go on strike. You'll see then how quickly the mayor changes his tone.

Personally I don't have my smart watch synced to my phone since I've cut the time I use my phone. So the distractions doesn't apply to me.
I use my smart watch to set short timers and alarms mostly and to check the time. Have used it to track rest times at gym too.
My gf uses hers to track her steps since she works at a desk to make sure she gets 10k steps at least.
