Men have been steadily clocking out of the American workforce since pre-pandemic times — even now despite there being millions of job openings and an uncertain economic climate.
While the U.S. labor market remains incredibly tight — with the economy adding another 263,000 jobs in November — around 7 million “prime age” men between the ages of 25 and 54 are reportedly sitting it out.
“They are affirmatively not looking for work. They've punched out. They're done,” TV host Mike Rowe said on The Brian Kilmeade Show, citing research from economist Nick Eberstadt.
“So what's really happening in the country now that scares me right to my core fundamentally is that we've never had so much unrealized opportunity and so little enthusiasm for it.”
The Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank also found that 25% of prime age Americans aren’t currently working — and while some say they’re looking for jobs, but can’t find any, others are actively choosing not to join the job hunt. The report points to reasons like caregiving for an elderly parent or child, health-related concerns, retiring early, going to school or joining the military.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce surveyed Americans who lost their jobs during the pandemic and about a quarter said federal aid incentivized them to not actively look for work, while about half aren’t willing to take jobs that don’t offer the option of remote work. Over a third of younger respondents said they were focusing on learning new skills and prioritizing their personal growth before re-entering the labor force.

Id like to know this as well. There have been several people especially around my apartment who havr been unemployed for going on two years now. They are always hanging around the parking lot in there pajamas at any hour of the day, smoking cigarettes. One of them got herself a new Kia Optima shortly after losing her job, too

I get what you are saying and the chips are stacked against us. To be fair very little has changed in terms of difficulty of being a man...The reality is that we took bullying away and fathers responsibility to give young men tough knocks and so we have this current society of men that are really boy children. Life is hard for men we just took all the preparation away from men to deal with it.
Work is supposed to be hard
People want what you have and they will try to take it
No one cares about your feelings
Its not easy to get laid and it never was
The chips are not in your favor EVER
You will be replaced if you cant produce
You are ONLY valuable for what you can provide
If you cant defend yourself, you are a victim
Your father and your male group of mentors and friends used to ensure you figured these things out before you had to deal with life alone. They bullied you, they beat you, they tore your ego down. Bullying was seen as an act of kindness and preperation and not an aggressive act. All we did is push the point of aggression down the road and ensure no one was prepared for life to smack them in the mouth. Now we treat young men like china dolls and then wonder why they crack and shoot up a school because POON didnt fall in their lap.
Men are pathetic these days. Would rather talk about their feelings to a WOMEN than do something challenging and difficult that ends in reward.

the more money you make the more you gain respect and power in this world...those alone should be enough motivating factors.
i think its a matter of self esteem that men are okay with being non productive or contributing members of the society.Last edited by Nocturnal310; 12-07-2022 at 08:57 AM.

It comes down to culture, really. If you come from a typical Asian working class family then you’re probably like me and your parents just want you to go to college, get a decent IT office job or whatever, and make enough money to support the house and pay bills and stuff. The focus on education/career is very strong my world.
I can imagine just LDARing and not working a 9-5, and it sounds miserable/purposeless. I would be a complete loser/disgrace in my parents eyes, and I don’t want to lose their respect. If I did choose an alternative, I’d at least want to start my own business, band, direct a movie, whatever… and try to make something of my time and energy.
A lot of the “innovators” of our world are just working on passion projects, programming, music, art, etc and they just do things for fun. People need to relax and enjoy and do extracurricular type activities and hobbies. But the day we don’t have janitors and burger flippers is going to be very scary. People should be paid livable wages if they choose these less than glamorous roles. If we want to keep things running the way they are, we need to incentivize people to work.Last edited by deft0nes; 12-06-2022 at 12:46 PM.

My dad's friend is an ITcel. He and all his IT brahs had a tee time after lunch on Friday for the last 10 years. Dude earns 6 figures and has watched his house value triple during the Fed bull.
And that's the norm for white collar workers of his age. Absolutely fukking LOL at "your dad's generation knew how to work hard." Y'all act like they're working in steel mills and chit and not writing TPS reports for 1 hour every day.FA Crew

LOL at this liberal media bullchit.
Id like to see these unrealized opportunities they speak of. Oh they mean doing absolutely dogchit service jobs like amazon warehouse or uber driving/food delivery, all for such a low wage you're better off roping.
Its actually hilarious how this article frames it like Men just aren't what they used to be, they just don't care and it doesn't make sense. The reality is life and society is now what it used to be. You used to be able to work pretty much any old job and be able to support your stay at home wife and kids, buy a new house, a new car, all the food you need and have money to spend of entertainment and have money left over to sock away into investments that actually produced a return. Oh what it must have been like to be a boomer.
The list of people and events that lead to this point is huge. There are alot of factors. Boomers hoarding wealth, universities making chit up and being greedy kunts, goverment spending and corruption, corporate greed and corruption, manipulation of currency and certain economic markets by wealthy elites, fake wars. But I think once of the biggest accelerants in the absolute destruction of the west has been the goverment and medias reaction to covid. The lockdowns, the shutdowns, the handouts, the business closures, the supply chain issues, the brainwashing.
Covid has been the single worst thing to happen to the west in history. And not because of the disease itself which is nothing more than a common flu.money, cars, clothes and hoes is all a miscer knows
