Almost broke both of my knees yesterday - moving a sofa

I purchased a new living room set, so I put my old one on FB in "Free your stuff in NYC". I didn't want complete strangers in my house so my son and I took the sofas out so all they had to do was load them in their Uhaul.

The crazy thing is that when we moved the fist sofa (way bigger/heavier than the second one, have a video if you want to see it) I had no problem. But for some reason I lost my balance moving the second sofa (love seat) and it came crashing down on both knees. The thing is the bottom of these sofas are metal becuase they are all electronic recliners and the metal hit both of my knees. I have no idea how I don't have any bruises, swelling or pain.

BH--you always want to go up/down stairs holding the sofa at an angle instead of "coffin style" like you and your son were in the vid. It makes it skinnier and easier to handle. I delivered furniture for years in HS and then was a mover on the weekends for 9 years when my kids were little. Sometimes there is nothing you can do when you feet/legs give out though. Glad you avoided major injury.

I thought, my son thought and Patty as well that I would have had some bruising or swelling, I dunno man, God was with me becuase I have nothing. But that sh!t landed on both my knees full force.

So you would hold the feet and your son would hold the arm. This keeps the weight above your waist and no one is bending down. I always choose to be the guy on the bottom, furniture is really light and as a gym rat I always felt it was my responsibility to walk backwards downstairs controlling the weight.

I was at a barbecue yesterday with my family, you know my family is huge, well they were blaming my son (jokingly) becuase he was at the bottom! They said you should have let your dad control the weight.
