I believe in your sentiment, I really do, but I believe the point here is if Russia wants A, and gives 2 options 1) peacefully comply 2) fight till the end, but either way Russia still gets A, what’s the better choice?

Is anyone arguing that ukraine will win? I think even most people itt agree that ukraine WILL lose territory here, maybe they fought to keep their capitol idk, maybe that was worth all the death.


Now if ukraine actually has a chance of winning, then good, but I don’t think anyone with an objective thought on the matter believes that.

When the measure of success being used is “it took 2 whole months to take control of towns” that’s not a very good indicator of “success”

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion at all that Russia will come out the winner or controlling any of the territory they are setting out to control. Depends on the resolve of Ukraine's people. But it can be hard to hold a territory if the people refuse to stop fighting. Russia wants the territory so that it can have additional resources that eventually become profitable. If those territories are constantly being attacked by artillery and insurgents, then this can quickly become a money pit for Russia that they might have to abandon. Again, just depends how long Ukraine is willing to fight them over it. Or are they willing to lose all the most profitable areas of their country and become just a tiny podunk country of even less value than before.
