An absolute revelation in gaming for me. I distinctly remember the weekend I first rented it after my uncle lent me his x-box. The level of openness and freedom were only things I'd ever dreamt about in a game. I bought it for PC shortly after and played it literally for years until Oblivion came out. Amazing game. I listen to the soundtrack regularly.
Once I began modding the game it was basically game over. So many possibilities. I also created many things with the construction set, including houses and whole towns. It was a really fun way to be creative and play the role of game designer. The bloodmoon expansion was also incredible.
Loved both Oblivion and Skyrim. I'm really looking forward to Elder Scrolls 6 and hope we won't be in for a massive disappointment.

Brb swinging at rats and missing constantly so stealing peoples pillows and silverware to fence to support my moon sugar habit in the crack den I set up in the helvannu ancestral tomb as I struggle to cum while having sex with the corpse of a spriggan with a daedric puzzle cube shoved up my ass

lol! This is exactly what I mean. I distinctly recall how exciting and thrilling Morrowind was when I first played it and was largely ignorant of how it worked. I would steal something, get caught by a guard, run away and have a bounty on my head and have to go on the lam as a wanted thief.
I remember killing someone and just stealing their house, piling up all my loot in there. Adding bottles to tables and laying weapons and armor out on the bed. I also remember coming in one time and seeing the cottamn dreaded loot bag cuz I was too much of a hoarder.*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*

I tried multiple times but couldn’t get into it. What threw me off was the dice roll combat system - swinging at an enemy point blank and missing over and over because your short blade skill isn’t high enough.
Oblivion is my favourite game of all time - have sunk well over 1,000 hours into it since it came out in 2006. 500+ hours into Skyrim. So I want to go back and try Morrowind again eventually.*Deadlifts pants after taking a chit crew*

It's in my Xbox right now. Seriously my favorite game of all time. Played every faction, main quest, and expansion to completion except for the vampires and house Telvanni I think. I need to buy a gaming computer so I can mod it. I love the openness and the unique flora and fauna. Both Skyrim and Oblivion were not as alien as Morrowind and that turned me off. Also the open nature of quests without quest markers or fast travel really makes the game that more immersive. You have to take notes when speaking with the quest giver to understand where the objective is. In Skyrim you can literally turn your brain off and just follow the marker. I hate that style.
The unique items too. This is something that the other games struggled with. I especially remember it in Fallout 3. In Morrowind you search a tomb, find a unique item and it looks cool! It has it's own unique skin and it should since it has unique properties. In Fallout 3 you find a unique weapon and it looks exactly the same as a basic weapon. Like who was dumb enough to make that decision? Unique items have probably had unique skins since the beginning of video game and comic book history.
Anyways...overall a 10/10 game. When it comes to playing non online games after you beat the main quest, Morrowind is hands down the best option when compared to anything else. Skyrim, GTA 5, RDR2, Fallout 3, etc. There is so much to do and explore on a relatively small map that they made feel huge.
PS: I have used the Imperial Guard line "I've trifled with you for long enough!" on my matches on Hinge and it works like a charm, haha. This one girl was like begging me to get a drink with her after using Morrowind lines on her LOL.** KNEE DRAGGERS UNITE ** - 04' F4i

yeah I can see that. I'd say Morrowind's lore and story are more interesting than Skyrim but going backwards in terms of game mechanics from Skyrim to Morrowind would be hard. Graphically too, it's lacking, although I always loved the gooey water textures of Morrowind. The skies are also beautiful.

Never played it. My first elder scrolls game was Skyrim on PS3, absolutely loved it. A couple years later I bought oblivion and just couldn't play it longer than a few days. As mentioned before, I just couldn't take the step back in graphics and didn't have nostalgia to keep me going. Which sucks, because I can tell that it had more mechanics and work into it.

I remember this. And if you have a slow warrior character you just get assraped into oblivion trying to run out of a cave or daedric ruin like a little bish.
As someone mentioned above, I remember how exciting the unique items were. I'd lay all the unique rings and weapons on my bed and mire them hard.*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*

Only a very little bit. I definitely don't have the patience to play a game like that. It's huge and doesn't mark your objectives on the map. I know that's a positive to some people, but it's definitely not to me.
I didn't play Oblivion or Skyrim much either though, which is kind of weird since I fuking love Medieval Fantasy and factor in how well done and epic those games are...you would think I'd have gotten really into them.

Slept on it because daggerfall was garbage and I was deep into Everquest at the time. Was in the top raiding guild on my server doing all kinds of server firsts. Was the top geared bard on the server for a while. Had some of the best loot in the game and did most of the hard pulls to set up raid boss fights.

My first trip into TES was Oblivion. Which was great at the time, but trumped by Skyrim in so many ways, especially graphics, combat and skill tree/levelling up.
I didn't like how you kept having to repair gear, like you do in The Witcher."Honor is something that all men are born with. It cannot be taken from you nor can it be granted. It must only not be lost."

One of the best games ever made. I remember there was a dude on GameFaqs back then who knew how to make a spell or enchantment for whatever you wanted. Want to jump over buildings? He got you.

I still hear the sound of the silt strider every morning when I walk out into the dead quiet cool dawn air and I peer at the forest surrounding my house. I also listen to Morrowind music every single morning during this quiet time.
