I have a 2017 elantra as my commuter car. Obviously not powerful enough to get out of its own way, but it gets almost 40mpg and has been super reliable. My mom's old 2005 sonata has almost 250k miles on it and is still going.
Hyundai is definitely a good choice if buying an import.Worst jew in the world.

Exterior of the car is a hit or miss for some people, but I'm looking to pick up a DCT Elantra N in Spring 2022. Not going to lie I like the Kona N too.
Look at what you get for $34,400 (DCT Tranny) NEW
-280hp
-290tq
-Fast DCT tranny or 6 speed manual
-3300lbs
-All the latest tech you need
-4 doors
-Beat at the track all day and it won't skip a beat

Wife had an issue with her 2013 Sorento that the dealer couldn't figure out (basically it would leave her stranded cause the car wouldn't start). And of course every time we took it in they couldn't replicate it. Wife ended up just trading it in on a newer one and it's been solid for 3yr/40K so far.

Yeah got lucky and paid MSRP, had to pay the add-ons like cargo net, etc. but that was like an additional $50+ or so.
It's not the greatest looking but it's not a deal breaker, for the price/performance you're getting I can live with it.
So far road/tire noise is pretty loud, I suspect it's due to the Summer tires?
Seats are pretty comfy so far, better than my Elantra Sport 17' seats that's for sure.

It's a nice deal but would want that Kona N. Pretty much the same price and would be a nice sleeper as there are no other hot small CUV's I believe.
Buddy at work has a 2019 Elantra that just crossed over 100,000 miles with no major issues, just bulbs blowing out.rumpler of stiltskins

Awesome bang for the buck initially. Kind of like Dodges, you seem to get a lot for your money when you drive it out of the dealership. 100K warranty is powertrain only and does not transfer from the original owner. 100K isn't crap anymore. You are buying a car based on a 100K warranty because you are worried the engine might not hold up you are probably not making the best decision. Do you think Toyota buyers are really concerned about the first 100k miles worrying about if the engine is going to make it or not? They aren't, but Hyundia buyers are. That should tell you something. Not trying to argue just pointing something out that maybe it's not the way to go. Plus there are things not covered under the warranty that you should be worried about. Suspension and interior along with pretty much anything on the body is complete garbage with no integrity and you'll have a car with 60K miles acting like it has 200K miles on it.
