(Not sure which forum this would belong under, this looked like the best "fit"?)
There was a pop on the Internet the other day. There was a young lady working out at her gym. Apparently her workout routine was working for her as she was fit and trim looking. Her workout clothes were "today's vogue"; workout bra, bare midriff and "wedgie" tights.
She went off on a guy, claimed he was staring at her. He denied it. She waved her phone at him, claimed she had evidence and posted it all on the Internet.
The pictures did prove he "looked". I am sorry that she felt uncomfortable but the pictures did not prove he "stared", "gawked" or "leered".
I do agree with the bulk of the commentators, we should not stare, gawk or otherwise commoditize the fairer sex but ... if they wear "look at me" clothes there's a good chance we're going to look, NOT stare, but, short of rigor mortis, a glance is pretty much unavoidable.
Let's replace the lady with a guy. He's buff, he's jacked. He's wearing a two sizes too small tank top. Muscles bulge. Girls stop and stare. Hell, even guys, straight guys, look. If you're a competitor you wonder if you would win against him. If you're not a competitor you might watch him train for a bit, maybe pick up a tip or two. Or wonder what he eats? Or if he's on steroids or HGH?
But if it's a lady? Again, I agree, don't stare, don't invade her comfort zone but hell ... even a eunuch ... is gonna ... look.
The solution? I dunno, I've seen many attractive gym outfits that get a "look" but ... without the "leer".

If you dress for attention, you're going to get attention. That fella is probably just not the kind of guy she is trying to get the attention of.
I have met several female competitors in my day (my wife being one of them) who dressed modestly for the gym because they were there to do work. They already knew they looked good, they didn't need validation.

Been here for for 13 years and I don't think I've ever opened it no less posted. I don't have access either. and can't see it Given that, maybe having access is bad vs good. This is the only sub-forum I post in though maybe 2008-9 I posted a few times in diet or programming.

To continue to the original discussion. What ended up being the last straw, and caused me to not renew our gym membership. When gyms re-opened, my wife and me were going regularly. One day as we're leaving, I slap my wife's ass, and grab it as we walked out. Some rainbow haired she beast starts heckling both of us over it for the entire walk from the front desk to the exit, which was a good 50'. It was so weird, because she kept jumping between the fact we weren't wearing masks, to sexism, objectification, rape culture. I looked over at the front desk staff, and gave them a look like "WTF?", and they immediately looked away like they don't notice what's going on.

I'm curious about the first story. Did the gym kick the guy out? Did he lose his job? Or did things just settle down after that?
We definitely don't want anyone harassing women, but she clearly was staring at him if she knew where his eyes were. All my gay male friends say they look at women's butts, not for gratification, but because they are obvious. They later mock them when they are away.

I couldn't remember the outcome so I tried looking it up. I found similar stories with one reporting that the "looker" had been permanently banned from the gym.
The one I read could have been absolutely true or it could have been her perception based on previous life experiences. She touted PROOF repeatedly but only provided a single picture of a guy sitting on a weight machine.
I thought of me. I'm old and wrinkled. I try not to look at the ladies for fear of creeping them out. But when I finish a hard set on a weight machine I just sit there for a bit, dazed, my eyes open but not looking at anything. I was left wondering if I'm creeping anyone out while I'm catching my breath?joe Henry

This feels like a misc topic, but joe wattie you got good vibes
Only look if you're going to do something about it tbh, otherwise you're just messing with yourself at the end of the day
I look, smile, give a thumbs up or a peace sign, and if they want to talk they'll come over, otherwise just go on about your business► Intermediate Bodybuilding Classic Physique ► Renaissance Periodization Programming

A couple of years ago a guy at my gym was doing what you described, just watching a jacked dude work out because he was jacked. The dude said, "Take a picture, it'll last longer." Ogler was embarrassed, but they both had a laugh at least - no harm done.
OP: wear a onesie, leg warmers & a headband to the gym. Take video of people watching you and post on the Internet.
