Instability in the South China Sea might drive up the cost of Asian products.

A border conflict between two countries might result in a nuclear exchange (I think something like 50 nukes going off anywhere on the planet around the same time means nuclear holocaust).

I can literally go at this all day. I completely understand your concerns, but every single time in history that America has said "phuck the world, let's focus on our own issues" there has been a global meltdown that resulted in hundreds of millions of deaths.
