not being pessimist but gotta keep it real - we have way too many holes for a competitive team; also, you have to consider that our division got better.
We are relying in a good draft to have an ok year but even that is a stretch because with the virus stuff we may not be able to have as much time as we used to have to get the rookies ready for the upcoming season.
I think we can be good again in 2 years if things go somewhat ok: good draft this year, and cap space next year are going to be key."Paper money is going away" - EM

It is pessimism when you can't say anything good. All you're doing is pointing out our flaws. I get we aren't a good looking team based on last years performance, but when you have such huge question marks at such key positions on offense, it's impossible to say whether or not we will do well.
Objectively looking at the defensive side of the ball, I think we will be a top 10 defense if the offense doesn't turn the ball over a ton. We maintained almost our entire secondary and brought in a good replacement LB and Winovich is going to be a menace this year to help fill those voids. Adam Butler was resigned and he had a great year last year.
Offensively, and I've said it a million times already, Stidham could play well and help win us games. We've not seen him play meaningful football so he's an unknown. Harry and Meyers will have more experience and will most likely mesh better with Stidham as they've had more snaps together. Our RBs are solid. Edelman will be solid as long as McDaniels gets creative with him so he's not double teamed every snap.
There are rumors that the Patriots and Thuney aren't close to an extension which means if we traded him, he would give us $14m in cap space which is more than enough to bring in an offensive weapon to help.
We have the best coach in the league and one of the best OCs in the league. I'm not saying we will win our division, but you guys are acting like we have no chance. Bills are on the upswing, but they aren't a lock to win the division just yet.
SF is saying they're willing to trade their first round draft picks for more mid round picks. Patriots have a number of mid round picks and possibly could make a trade and move down to 13th to get a promising QB and still have their other 1st round pick.
Lots can happen. Stay positive my friends.New England Patriot

We traded a retired player and got a 4th round pick. I'm completely fine with that.
Gronk probably plays one more season, maybe 2 if Brady stays in TB and he can stay healthy. If we can get lucky with that pick, or use it to trade up for Tua, Belichick will look like a genius once again.New England Patriot

I'm not going to argue Brady was playing at an elite level last year, because he wasn't, but there is a reason his numbers weren't great. We all know why they were, so I hope they can address them this off season.
I'm always excited for the season to start, but this year is different and I like it.New England Patriot

I'm excited as well (even tho u think I am pessimist lol) - I think we have enough capital to bring some good players in.
Also, I will be cool with trading Edelman because I feel it will take a couple of years for us to be competitive again and by then he will be too old.
Gilmore is a STUD no question but I think between him and Thuney we could make good things happen (trading/draft/etc).
let see what happens tonight!"Paper money is going away" - EM

There's no doubt in my mind our passing game could be better than last year, even after losing Brady if we address the areas that need to be addressed & players come back healthy. Also with a healthy full back & maybe Andrews coming back I'd love to see Sony get to the point he was at late in 2018 when he was averaging like 4.7 ypc.
I am deadset against trading Gilmore, probably a top 5 player in the league you're talking about... Thuney is a bit more understandable as a tagged player. But, he is very hard to replace and with cap space opening up, I'd love to see him signed to a long term deal to protect our next QB. OL wins games.

We had the change to sign two gooooood LT over the last few years and we didn't because we didn't want to spent that type of money... what make u think BB is going to pay Thuney? with that being said: I am with you, OL win games no question in my mind!
I think we need to be pragmatic and get rid of players that are not going to be with the team 2-3 years down the road (Edelman, Gilmore, Thuney)
IMHO (Must have):
1. We need a center - we know how it goes we blood cloths.
2. OL deepth
3. Kicker
4. TEs
1. LB
2. Run stoppers
Obviously I am not counting QB but we will figure out how BB see Stid tonight - if we pick a QB on the first two rounds that will tell u everything u need to know about stid (unless an amazing prospect fall in the draft)"Paper money is going away" - EM

Yeah, I can't see us trading Gilmore. His ability to take away their #1 WR makes our defense so much better. I really like our CBs. Gilmore and JC Jackson are going to be a menacing combo this season.
Thuney is pricey, which is why it was surprising when they tagged him. We usually don't pay players big money like that. From the sounds of it, they aren't close on a deal and if they can't come up with a long term deal, he will be traded. It doesn't make sense for us to let him walk next season without getting anything in return. If we could keep Thuney, get Andrews back, keep Wynn healthy and not lose Develin, we would have a pretty solid rush attack. I still am unsure what we're doing with our RBs. Michel, Burkhead, White and Harris. Harris didn't see the field last season but we used a 3rd round pick on him. At some point he has to play, right?
Also, I like the idea of keeping Edelman around. He's a scrappy, tough veteran with a winning mindset that would be good for the younger guys. Minus a few ugly drops, he had a great season last year even when missing time and playing through injuries. His season would have been even better had McDaniels done a better job of getting him off double teams towards the end of the season.
Tonight we will get answers in the draft. I have a feeling Belichick will be doing something no one sees coming. Let's go boyos!New England Patriot

My ideal night would be trading down to ~40 (to either get Cole Kmet or an OLmen) & picking up an additional second(or early 3rd) round pick for 2021.
Get capital for next year while still locking up your biggest need.
I'd also like to see us go after Fromm if he falls to the third round comp picks. He's a smart player who could have solid upside.

Looks like we are signing Marqise Lee who was released earlier by the Jaguars. This is an interesting move the day of draft. This seems like our typical sign an WR to try him out type deal, but right before the draft when we have so little cap room...

Reports are that Tampa Bay is asking too much for Howard which is why he hasn't been moved yet.
Also, the new deal with Lee might only cost us around $150k in cap space leaving us around $900k going into the draft. Seems we will be making a few trades or trading down in the draft.New England Patriot
