Yep, the more you crack down, the more people lie.
The burning bodies things is really strange though. How the eff can you just start incinerating corpses like that. Those are people's family members.
https://www.latimes.com/world/asia/l...106-story.html
In December 2013, authorities in Xuancheng — a city in Anhui province about 125 miles from Anqing — dug up the recently buried corpse of an 83-year-old man, doused it in gasoline and set it on fire after the man’s family refused to cremate him.
Less than a year later, two Guangdong province officials were caught buying corpses from grave robbers to meet cremation quotas. Both were arrested.
Anqing officials have denied that the policy caused any deaths. “The whole reform went very, very smoothly,” insisted Qian Shouzhuang, Xianrong’s party secretary. “Zero people resisted. Nobody in this village put up any resistance to the reform.”
The state-run Beijing News tallied six elderly suicides across the municipality. Some elderly villagers drank pesticide, it said in a report; one jumped down a well; another killed herself after officials destroyed her coffin in front of her.
Wang Minghu, a 53-year-old fisherman in Xiangjin, a village of 1,500 people near Xianrong, said that his 81-year-old mother Zhang Wenyi hanged herself from a tree after hearing about the policy in May 2014.
“Not one person here actually wants to be cremated,” said Wang. “Maybe one exception is the party secretary, the village cadres. But no one else.”Last edited by ANumber1; 02-04-2020 at 06:32 AM.

Every year it's a new 'thing' that's going to wipe us out.
You guys are just being fearmongered by mainstream media to stay scared and docile.

Britain told its citizens on Tuesday to leave China if they could, saying the suspension of airline flights and restrictions on movement will make it harder to leave over coming weeks.

The fact that this isn't really spreading exponentially outside of China should be reassuring. Maybe too early to draw any conclusions but this doesn't seem as serious outside of China. Only one death outside of China and the person was from China. This still could be an issue for countries like Indonesia, Pakistan, India, etc...

Too early to be confident about the spread outside of China. Many experts believe it will be a global pandemic. The case involving a person who travelled from South Korea to Thailand and contacted the disease is particularly worrying. This is only going to get worse, not better. All of the travel around Chinese New Year was the big killer as far as the spread of the virus goes. Give it a few more weeks and the reality will start to hit home as more nations are infected beyond control.

What radio news is worried about:
-"I have to blow my nose in private, I've never experienced racism before."
-BBC reporting on the WHO's latest worry: "info-demic," there's simply too much information out there right now and it's not all accurate-no fukkin chit retards. Go get the real numbers out of China and do your fukkin job.
-Hur dur, Iowa caucus went to chit. Also, Iowa too white to be first in the nation.
-Profile on the Democrat response to SOTU, in Spanish. Just LMFAO.
Yeah, media def not too concerned. Moment there's an outbreak I'm pulling the kids out of school. Live in a county with one of the highest Asian populations in USA, we've got a case. County next to us, also huge Asian population-has a case. Other neighboring county-200 in quarantine. Paranoid? Maybe. Don't fukkin care. Got my preps.Virtue is its own reward.

Based, you're right. Low key freaking out on too much info. Srs. Just hit the gym, had rational thoughts, feel better. Chits not falling apart. Yet anyway.
Here's a thought a few moves ahead-what do you guys think is going to be the fallout when the dust settles on this? I'm talking about laws and measures passed in response, liberties eroded, etc? After 9/11, we had the Patriot Act, airport scanners, and Homeland Security. I wonder what if anything is going to change. WHO mentioned the danger of certain types of info, maybe we'll see more active internet surveillance, more acceleration of biometric info being used, more facial recognition camera tech in public spaces.Last edited by Johnez; 02-04-2020 at 10:56 AM.

Just like the records already existed and they just had to push the Patriot Act to legally access them, they’ll push some legislation to do all kinds of stuff with your DNA. On top of that they’ll probably mandate all kinds of stuff for “public health”, some of which will seem legit and some that’s shady as hell.+positive crew+

Guys clearly China is frauding death numbers. How many do you think are dead? How high do you guys think the mortality rate is? I’m guessing minumum 100 die a day.

Thats the problem its impossible to know because they are completely cutting off any communication to the outside world best they can. They dont have to (and cant) stop it 100% just make sure no one can piece together a reliable number. Im sure its higher than whats reported, but could be 10 one day, 100 the next, 0 the next, etc. Maybe it only kills Asian Men more (as reported) so cant use whats happening outside china as a reliable source yet till it gets bigger.
If its not full pandemic by next month this time its a dud.

Ive heard that too as far as 24/7 cremation, which might probably be true. But also realize that article/fog **** is bull****. the implication is, its smoke from all the dead bodies being burnt, but that area of china is HEAVY industrial and known for lots of pollution which is seen as haze/fog like that all the time. Also youre dealing with people who are on high alert, scared, and SUPER superstitious.

I'm probably an idiot, but why don't they fly planes of sick people to nearby hospitals for treatment? China obviously makes the rules here.
414 of the 427 dead WORLDWIDE is in Hebei, with nowhere to go and probably no medical treatment available. Being sick and not being able to get treated in time, waiting to die.. I can't even imagine how that must feel like. You don't see anywhere near the amount of deaths from the rest of the world, or even rest of China.
Obviously they want to contain the virus, but if you're talking about hundreds of lives(if not more), can't they come up with a safe method to transfer at least some of the sick to somewhere else?

Frank Plummer, former head of the Canadian National Microbiology Lab, dead at 67
"He won many awards during his career, for his research into HIV transmission and for providing leadership at the National Microbiology Lab during the SARS outbreak, including the Canada Gairdner Wightman Award in 2016. He was also at the helm of the lab during Ebola scares and during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic."
Cause of death not reported but Canada’s chief public health officer described Plummer’s death as “sudden” in a statement where she referred to him as her mentor.
