As im thinking about this.
Apple was always the "alternative" brand right? They didnt pick up until later. I remember pc's were legit and mac's were more used for art and stuff.
However, i remember they got huge with the ipod. First it was cool to have music digitally and it was the circle wheel you dragged your finger around to select stuff. Then it was the itouch with their touch screen version of the ipod. I remember microsoft saw apple doing so well so they thought theyd enter the mobile music genre.. And created the zune, which flopped. And then apple took that same little touch screen device with their itouch and made a perfect little device if it could make calls
Im beginning to wonder if they were just the sole leaders on the mobile market. Idk, havent studied it. Havent looked up when they introduced their laptops and i know there were other cell phones. But just saying. I remember when they were an "alternative" brand

I had one of the OG iPods, thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then when they released the iPhone and the iTouch, I knew I needed to have them. My parents didn't buy me the iPhone, but I had the second generation iTouch and it changed my whole opinion on technology. I grew up using the apple interface and from there on I got the iPod Touch Nano, iPhone 4G, iPhone 6S, iPhone 8 Plus, and now the iPhone 11 Pro Max. I've had the Air Pods Gen 1 and now the Airpods Pro. I have an Apple Watch, and I have a 2012 Macbook Pro.
Everything that is Apple, spare the phone batteries still work completely fine, all interface with each other, and are familiar to me. I know that Samsung is way better for customizing and sometimes has better specs, I just hate the user interface of it. I had a Samsung Galaxy for work since it was free. I had it for two years before I traded it in and paid for a subsidized XR.*Mechanical Engineering Crew*

People aren't necessarily sheeps. These companies spend a fortune on marketing to create a brand and image. If the majority of people accept the message that Apples are high quality, then that is the general consensus.
Hey old timer, we still do that on the daily on the misc.It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.

Steve Jobs was meticulous about the details, small chit that actually added up to a premium feel. Marketing focused on Apple being "premium" and stand out. Look at Starbucks. You can literally spend a tenth of what Starbucks charges at home and waste less time and enjoy your coffee at home, but "baristas." Lemmings prefer to wait forever in line for their dumbass sugarbombs crafted just for them.
The premium feel feeds and into the customer ego. There's plenty of alternative products on par with Apple. Apple generally get everything right, however they've had enough fukkups that it ain't just a quality thing that drives the masses.Last edited by Johnez; 11-13-2019 at 01:17 PM.

Work colleague was getting a new phone - said Samsungs take bad photos so stuck with the iphone - but she got the 11 instead of the pro because it was cheaper and apparently couldn't tell the difference between the two screens (LCD vs OLED). I guess she has an incredible eye for photos but not for screen quality. She could have just said she wants imessage and a cooler phone
All phones look nearly identical these days and do the same thing. Design barely matters if you use a case.

First of all, Samcucks are the ones who stoled Apple's GOAT designs.
Second, Phones don't all do the same thing. You may be speaking on one phone and look like an averagecel while you may speak on another and look like a richcel. You tell me, do they still do the same thing?
Nothing wrong with using a Samcuck phone. But just realize that they are not on the same level as Apple - the truth.

this isn't 2014 anymore and it totally depends on phone brand
Oh! Apple still uses the ****ty notch. Even 150 dollars phone giving minimal notch these days. FYI, these phones came about at the same time.

The flagship phones near $1,000, but there are tons and tons of non-flagship Android phones that would work just as well for the normal person for a fraction of the price. The Samsung Galaxy A50 is $350. The LG Stylo 5 is $250. The Moto G7 is $300. If you take the obvious visual differences away like the screen size/shape/notches out of the picture, I bet the vast majority of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between any of those cheaper phones with the flagship phones.

Let's break it down like this.
1. Apple has great marketing, appeal, and a great symbol, (despite the horrible connotation).
2. Consumerism and keeping up with the Jones'
3. Marked as high end, so high price tag equates to high quality.
Now let's get into why this is all bullchit. A phone has 1 main purpose. Communication. Call/texts are now an essential part of life. The accessory purposes of a phone can be boiled down to the use of apps, clock/timer/alarms, camera, and basic built in functions. Most people don't need most of that, but want all of that. The camera is basically a top tier want.
Here's the biggest problem. Phones are a depreciating asset. Most phones depreciate 60-80% by the end of the year, and a lot of times even more than that. The constant release dates destroy phone value.
Given the deprecation and cost to value ratio, buying an apple phone for 1k+ is a horrific financial investment. It's laughable. You're basically pissing money away. "But muh camera quality and muh speed and muh texting is cleaner." I bought a phone for 170$ (samsung A20) that does pretty much every single thing a person needs a cell phone to do. I now saved $830 in which I can use for future endeavors, for investing, for purchases with appreciating value, or to throw in a 2% high yield savings account. The average millenial has like 1k in their savings account, meaning most lease their new phones, racking up more payments and debts.
If you can write it off, or you have enough money where 1k means jack **** to you, then by all means get it.
