I'm about eight months in and loving the iron. I envy the guys at my gym who already look huge. It keeps me fighting.
If you've got a moment, tell me how weightlifting's made your life better.
What gains have you made outside the gym - do people treat you differently? got any good stories?

The important stuff: Stronger. Much better shape than the average 60-year-old guy. Improved mood and emotions.
The fun stuff: In the last few years, I’ve gotten physical flirting from two women in person, exchanged pics and messages with three women who pursued me online.Last edited by HomeGymChains; 07-31-2019 at 06:54 PM.
At age 64, I've exceeded all my prior PRs. Not “over the hill” yet. :)

Saved my life. A couple of years back I was diagnosed with cancer, after starting chemo and radiation I lost the ability to swallow for about 8 months. Couldn't even drink water. Had lots of complications, multiple hospitalizations. Of course I lost all my gains and then some, had to start back again from less than scratch.
BUT, if I hadn't been in shape to begin with, if I hadn't had a strong constitution and good foundation from lifting, I doubt that I would have survived those complications. Had there been no gains to lose, I would have lost even more, and I doubt that I would have made it through the worst of it.
So yeah, I'm a big fan of lifting.“Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”
