I'm close to pulling the trigger, getting a new bench and reigniting my garage gym.
Little about me. 6'4". 210. 50 yrs old and feeling it. From 14'-17' I was in that garage 3 days a week loving it. Any positive is long since gone and I'll need to start again. Might had stopped due to the increased chiropractic visits but I had that going since I was 18yrs old so, really not assignable. I bring it up only due to my long contemplation with the 3000 or the no gap 5000. Bench I am replacing was an old weider that has a 5" gap that bit me a couple times. So I imagine anything is an improvement.
Love dumbell work and keep a Smith as more of a rack for squats and high/low cable. Should just grab a future pic.
Anyway long winded first post but this was the site I lurked and learned from 5 years ago and I'm simply taking any feedback you guys can give.
Rep bench good start? 3000 let's me rubber floor. 5000 no gap looks impressive but rubber floor would have to wait.
Ironmaster pro is also a player just a bit confused even with all the reviews.
Opinions appreciated.

I have this bench, and I would recommend it as the best adjustable bench for the money.Stout and heavy. ON flat and decline setting, the bench is solid as rock, and comfy. I got mine for $310 at their website. There are some negatives, when you're doing sit-ups on decline setting, there's going to be some rattling noise, nothing major. Also, when you have dumbbells on the ground -in between the leg rollers - it will be a bit of nuisance, the legs rollers get in the way.

I'm starting to feel a bit like a broken record, but have you run a few specific searches on CL or ******** marketplace yet?
You could get a commercial bench for the price of the Rep AB3000. I have seen at least 3 PowerLift benches on CL this year for under 300. One looked new and was $250. You're tall enough that a lot of those commercial benches would work for you.
I don't know your location, but as nice as the Rep adjustable benches are, they aren't equal to the nicer commercial ones. Not unless you absolutely want zero pad gap on a FID with a 12" pad, in which case the AB5000 is the only option right now.

unless you need decline function id take the ab3100 over the 3000 every time. more compact, more comfortable for dumbbell work and perfectly fine in a rack.

It looks like the FB-5000 wide not only has a 14" wide pad, but the pad on both FB-5000's is a tackier vinyl. Not an apples to apples comparison to the AB-3000 or even the AB-5000.
I thought the 12" back pad on the AB-5000 was it's nicest feature. Not enough so that I had them replace the defective AB-5000 I sent back, but still a really nice pad.I'm surprised you didn't find the 11.5" AB-3000 pad to be stable. It's the same vinyl as the AB-5000, but maybe it's actually more than 1/2" narrower than the AB-5000 at the shoulders because it tapers.
The AB-3100 has a nicer taper on the seat than the AB-3000. It looks like it matches the AB-5000 seat shape, which I prefer (although I haven't actually seen either the 3000 or 3100). I did spend a few hours with the AB-5000 before I re-boxed it. Nice bench for any garage gym. I prefer its seat tapered and rectangular back pad combination to the others, but that would mean paying for the AB-5100 if not the AB-5000, and I still think a used commercial bench is a better option for someone 6'4" tall.Last edited by JustTheDad; 07-30-2019 at 12:00 PM.

You guys are great. Super info I'm ingesting. According to the guys at rep, the 5000 will again be available this friday. I've waited over a month on that premise alone. Another couple days wont break me and I'm glad I asked the group.
I dont imagine there to be any wrong or right answer. My bad ol back probably the biggest player in my mind and I just dont have the room for 2 benches. I dont normally skimp on investments considering the frequency I plan to be on that bench but no means of trial is making me lean towards the 5000 and saving on floor rubber for later.

Hammer Strength has a commercial unit with a lumbar support called the FWADJ. It sometimes appears in used markets, this bench is really solid and comfortable with a lumbar support curved pad. It also has a removable foot plate for doing incline and 90 degree shoulder press. Its a better bench for incline than for flat, but I have used it for flat as well and its alright. Its a good bench for dumbbells. The curved lumbar shape supports lordosis, might be nice for your back condition. Unfortunately the bottom/seat pad angle is not adjustable. I had the pleasure of using this bench at a local YMCA for a few years. Not my picture but it shows a good example:
