What is all the Fortnite hype?

Seems to be taking over the bro culture. Looks to me like a souped up version of Smash Bros. Apparently becoming one of the highest grossing games of all time, see that **** all over social media too... kinda like a meme.

Anybody here play it? Is it that good?

play it with friends and you will definitely enjoy it, play it alone and I cant promise you anything, also probably the fact that it has such short matches and winning is easily attainable.

played it, and would have rather PUBG kept the hype (and worked better), the building **** takes a way from just being a fun shooter, but then again its all about how you view the game. If you view as less of shooter and just a survival game then have at it. Im just waiting for the next shooter to take off

I can't get into it either the building sht seems so lame to me, I've tried a few times to get into it but shooting somebody to watch them construct a giant tower in front of you immediately just looks dumb af.

I am the worst player in the history of the game. Prob kill one person every 10 rounds. Never won a solo. But I keep playing. There's something about it.

take it how you will, the building **** didnt sound appealing before I played it, still wasnt appealing after but obviously a ton of people disagree because the game is crazy popular. Teach each their own.

It's fun, runs well, and I can cross play with old Xbox homies I haven't connected with in years. Fun to mess around in and even more fun to win at

It's for folks who can appreciate the added dimension that building brings. You want to camp on that hill, cool, I can build up to you, or shoot out the bottom of your base and kill you. Gives a much broader range of engagements. Usually the folks who hate on the building, are people who haven't wrapped their heads around how to think outside of a flat plane. It's geared more toward the imaginative.

This. It's also fun using RPGs to knock people out of the sky.

The shooting aspect in the game at the basic level is very simply/easy. Shooting people at long range is vastly easier compared to PUBG. this appeals to kids and people who are garbage at shooters

The game itself has a higher skill ceiling compared to similar games because of the building element, this is why the top guys have a significant win rate, again compared to games like PUBG or H1Z1, thus it also appeals to people who are good at the game

Love PUBG, but I just cannot get into Fortnite. Too cartoony and I'm not a fan of the wall/base building.

I was actually excited for it for the original zombie horde game but it turned out to have too many systems instead of just keeping it simple, it kind of made it a bit daunting to play. When they announced the battle royale mode I played a few times and it was fun for what it was OK, but I just kind of shrugged it off and went back to PUBG for my BR fix.

It's been interesting to see it transition from "Fortnite" to "Fortnite Battle Royale" back to "Fortnite" but i don't think anybody even considers the game for what it originally was anymore.

Tried to play it, simply felt like it wasn't for me. That said, I haven't minded pulling up a stream and watching someone decent play it on occasion. Can definitely understand why so many people are playing and enjoying it.

yeah the bloom can be a pain but at the same time there is no scoping in and out (aside from sniping) and its not hard to shoot people far away with a rifle

Then what's the point of having plains, mountains, cliffs, hills, warehouses, clubhouses, houses and valleys if everyone can just build anywhere, anytime to even the playing field? Why not just make the whole map flat if that's the case? If you think long and hard its an absolutely stupid concept.

I dont like FN but I just dont care for BR games. The game itself is well done and ITS FREE

And that's why half of their players play it. Also they released first on PS4 because their target audience were gullible kids who also couldn't afford gaming PCs and it worked very well for them. Meanwhile PUBG did the complete opposite. Its funny people don't even realize this

Played it twice, came 2nd and 9th and never fired a single shot, only person I ever saw in game was the one who killed me. I can see why it's so hyped but also not really my kind of game, only tried it because it was free.

Its easy to finish in the top 3 without doing much at all. One time I killed 1-2 people then for the rest of the game I just stayed outside the storm, hid in a container for 15 minutes, waited for the other last guys to kill each other and ran out of the container and killed the last one remaining and finished 1st.

You can finish top 5 without even seeing anyone for the majority of the game all you need to do is stay out of the storm and youre good. Its so trash, boring and requires no skill at all.

But then again most people who play it are 12 year old squeakers.
